The Verification Of Registration

he Mpumalanga Department of Education request all learners who wrote the 2015 Supplementary examination in February/March this year to collect their statements of results from their schools. The Department further congratulates those who made the mark. These cohort of candidates are allowed to register as part-time candidates for October/November NSC examinations, if they failed to meet the pass requirements. The deadline for registration is the 29 May 2015. Parents and the community leadership are requested to support the learners this time around. The certificates of those who passed will be released on the 30 June 2015 after the finalization of remark processes. Those wish to apply for remark must pay a prescribed fee and complete the necessary application forms by 14 May 2015. The certificates for those who didn't write the supplementary examinations are obtainable from

schools form 4 May 2015 and should be collected within a period of six (6) months. Those failed to meet the pass requirements are issued with subject certificates that are also available in schools. The June/July Senior Certificate examinations meant for the out-of-school youth above 21 years of age and adults who previously failed to satisfy requirements for NSC will be starting on the 1st June to 4 July 2015. The verification of registration status should be done in examination centres where the candidates have registered. Those who are not registered and those without IDs will not be allowed to write these examinations. For more information in this regard learners and parents are expected to contact school principals, the nearest circuit office or the departmental examination help desk at 013 766 0033/97 during office hours. SANCO Speaks On eLukwatini Sanco condemns the outbreak of violence and torching of home affairs offices at eLukwatini

ANCO MP strongly condemns the outbreak of violence in Elukwatini / Nhlazatshe and torching of the Department of Home Affairs' offices in Elukwatini. This disturbing element came after a highly successful and peaceful SANCO-led community protest against crime and drug abuse in Chief Albert Luthuli Sub-Region, particularly around Elukwatini, Nhlazatshe, Tjakastad and surrounding areas. SANCO has noted with concern that opportunistic elements by individuals within the opposition ranks hijacked the subsequent processes to fulfill political ends. As the national leader of communities, SANCO wants to put it on records that it doesn't subscribe to hooliganismand anarchism, and hence distances itself from the any

violent behavior. In the interest of the safety of the community members, when preparing for the march, it is for this reason that SANCO met with communities to raise consciousness about such elements. SANCO wants to put it on record that it had a successful march and delivered a memorandum that was accepted by the Magistrate. The memorandum raised a number of issues, as opposed to the distorted view by some fraction. SANCO is of the opinion that the level of drug trade in and around Elukwatini fuels criminal activities. As SANCO we have been on records that we shall not stand helpless and not raise our voice against dangerous, merciless and bloodthirsty criminals who operate with immunity in tormenting our society, because of authorities inability to address the issues. SANCO previously issued a statement condemning SAPS's inability to pro-actively protect the community against criminals, in particular the gangsters and drug lords. We have indicated that the communities' patience on the SAPS inabilities andignorance runs tin by the day. The issue of the merciless thugs and gangs in that area of Elukwatini / Nhlazatshe was

reported and has been known to SAPS for quite some time, but no action was taken to protect the community. SANCO urge the community of Elukwatini to desist and denounce illegal activities, especially the destruction of services and infrastructure as well as any elements that may violate the rights other community members. sabotaged and critised that served as an eye opener for him to follow his passion. The young self motivated, determined and goal driven young man experienced a lot of adversities in his life , however he cope with all the ventures obstructing his path. Lindokuhle is currently a Reporter for ETV (Enca) His mother decided to move with Lindokuhle's two siblings brothers to Dundonald after separating with their father . After completing his matric Lindokuhle took a gap year that was not part of his aim however lack of money to pay for his Varsity fees made him to remain home. According to SADAG, it is an adult's responsibility to keep communication open with teenagers in order for them to understand the consequences and dangers of underage drinking. Open communication also allows guidance to be given to teenagers with how to say no to peer pressure. Listen to your children: The more open your relationship with your children is, the more likely they will feel comfortable with talking to you about any issues, including alcohol. Listen to them, don't judge and let them know they can come to you and trust you. Teach them to deal with

nyathelo: The South African Institute for Advancement has appointed former deputy Health Minister and widely respected women's rights activist Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge as its new Executive Director. She will assume her duties at the non-profit organisation that works to strengthen South African civil society and grow local philanthropy on Monday 15 June 2015. Madlala-Routledge, who also served as Chairperson of the ANC Parliamentary Caucus, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Deputy Minister of Defence, has a long and distinguished history of campaigning for human rights and working for civil society organisations that deepen and advance democratic participation. She served in the national liberation movement as Chairperson of the Natal Organisation of Women and on the Regional Executive Committee of the United Democratic Front (UDF). She later served on the executive of the Women's National Coalition as well as the Transitional Executive Council (TEC) as managing secretary for the Sub-Council on the Status of Women. Madlala-Routledge was one of the four-strong South African Communist Party (SACP) delegation to the Convention for a

Democratic South Africa (CODESA) that negotiated the transition from apartheid. She also served with Cyril Ramaphosa in the Constituent Assembly that drew up our Constitution. Over the last few years, Madlala-Routledge helped establish the African Women's Peace Table, a partnership forum for integrating women's perspectives on issues of peace and security in Africa. She also set up the women's human rights organisation 'Embrace Dignity' as well as 'Democracy from Below', a grassroots movement to strengthen participation in our democracy. Madlala-Routledge currently serves as Non-Executive Director of the 'Coalition Against Trafficking in Women' (CATW International) as well as 'Right to Care' and 'Right to Care Health Services', a section 21 company providing treatment and care for people living with HIV/Aids. Madlala-Routledge says she believes her next challenge is to be part of the efforts to rebuild civil society in South Africa. “As we enter the third decade of our democratic transition, civil society faces new challenges of insecure funding from international donors, decreased support from government and a continuous drain in the leadership pool. Inyathelo is a key organisation supporting the deepening and advancement of

democracy in South Africa and provides a much-needed resource to thousands of civil society organisations as well as our universities and other anchor institutions. Its work to promote the development of a philanthropic movement in South Africa is pioneering and I look forward to strengthening their efforts to help ensure the long term sustainability and independence of our vibrant civil society sector,” says MadlalaRoutledge. Founder and outgoing Executive Director of Inyathelo, Shelagh Gastrow, says it is a great privilege to hand over the reins to such a highly respected, dedicated and effective civil society leader. “Nozizwe has already made an invaluable contribution to our democracy as a liberation hero and human rights champion. The event took place on Saturday evening on 9 May 2015, at the Buffalo Hotel in Hectorspruit (Nkomazi Local Municipality) This Continental prestigious event is running for the 3rd year in 2015. 15 African countries were expected to participate in this year's pageant but only 10 including South Africa participated after others withdrew due to Xenophobic incidents in other Provinces like KZN and Gauteng although no incidents were reported in Mpumalanga. The event was graced by Guests from the African continent, some who had come to cheer up their contestants. Also present at this prestigious event was the MECs for Social Development and that of Culture, Sport and Recreation, and the Provincial Speaker. Home Affairs offices set for major improvement President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday unveiled an initiative to improve services at Home Affairs offices. Known as the Moetapele Initiative, the programme is a front office and leadership improvement project of the Department of Home Affairs, which aims to improve the way officials work and deliver services to the public. “Through this initiative, we are challenging the leadership of the department to turn some of our most troublesome offices into model offices, and Edenvale, which has been the subject of many customer complaints, will be the first,” Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba said last week when tabling his budget vote. The programme will involve the development of ‘model offices’ as incubators of best practice for the department. Municipality's area of jurisdiction is vastly rural and traditional and This was the first time that this kind of graduation has happened in Mpumalanga Province, which GSDM being the first District to empower traditional leaders with a higher learning institution (University of KwaZulu-Natal). Gert Sibande Section 79 Committee for Rural Development and Traditional Affairs Council under the leadership of Councillor Daniel Shongwe as the Chairperson of the Committee that looks after the interests of traditional affairs and rural development in the District, noted the importance of effective and involved participation of the Local House of Traditional Leaders to the municipal council and also other relevant municipal activities and programmes such as public participation programmes. It was therefore important that the Traditional Leaders be capacitated accordingly. The GSDM Municipal Council therefore took a resolution to enroll the traditional Graduates and GSDM UKZN leadership during the graduation leaders and the committee members for a recognized Leadership and Good governance programme, a short course being offered by the University of KwaZulu-Natal. The course has five modules which are African Leadership, Good governance and legislative framework, Rural Community Development, General Management and Natural Resource Management and Land Administration. Clad in their graduation gowns, the visibly excited graduates anxiously awaited for their names to be called to receive their qualifications. (*) A certain amount of stock market language is necessary; it's quite easy to learn what you need to know and we'll do that in the coming weeks. But "the markets" and the people who work in them have become so separate from us that they have developed a shorthand way of talking among themselves that leaves ordinary people out. It's the same as the eyewatering jargon around unit trusts and some other financial products based mostly on the stock market. This happens because of a

The Return Of D.D.Mabuza Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza has returned from a highly successful trade and investment visit in Italy By: Staff Reporter

The visits'main objectives were to attract among others, infrastructure built investments to the province. Speaking after a weeklong visit to Italy, Premier Mabuza said the visit yielded positive outcomes and would see many investors coming to the province. The Premier said '" we went, saw, learnt and conquered as we opened the doors of trade and investment between our province and Italy” “Everywhere we went people were very much interested in our value proposition about Mpumalanga province. The highlight of our visit was the landmark agreement that we signed with the Governor of Puglia, His Excellency Nich Vendola,”said Mabuza. These agreement talks to our needs in the improvement of our food security, Human Capital training and healthcare sector The Premier said in most cases when people wanted to come and invest in areas like our province the biggest challenge was how to secure their investments and most importantly to know who will facilitate their entry into the market. The Premier explained and introduced MEGA as the bridge for investment into the province. It is through MEGA that potential local

partners including BBBEE will be facilitated and matched with Italian investors. “We are excited about this agreement because it shows that Italian companies have confidence in our province and in our country in general. It happens at a time when we are facing challenges of being downgraded by investment rating companies. This will show other countries that indeed they can do business with us," said Mabuza. The Premier explained that the visit to Italy focused on a number of areas such as; Food production cooperatives, Agro processing,healthcare, doctor exchange programme and more on

What makes this model of cooperatives so unique is that it has opened its membership to the public who are also shareholders. cooperatives are concerned. What we are doing in our province will never ever transfer ownership to the masses. With our current model it will take years before we see change, we cannot continue with our current model. With the planned fruits and vegetable market, we will offer a new sustainable off taker market. The market will supply the products to both local South African and foreign markets including Italy. Mpumalanga will roll out its plan to of establishing commercial farmers using state owned agricultural land. . Health The visit to a public-privatepartnership healthcare facility in Bari was an eye opener to the delegation. Our healthcare facilities are old and dilapidated, and they lack the cutting edge technology.

In RSA a 600 bed healthcare facility would take many years to build from conception, government finance to completion and commissioning. In Italy it took only two years to build a 600-bed health facility using a PPP method. The 50-year-old agricultural research centre has its membership from countries that are within the Mediterranean region in Africa and in Europe. It has since opened its membership even to other countries that are not necessarily in that region. Mpumalanga has been accepted to join and receive the benefits. MEC Gamede signed the cooperationagreement. The Premier also signed a bilateral agreement with Governor MARONI of the Province of Lombardia based in Milan the economic capital of Italy . The agreement includes energy,healthcare,water,roads, new town development, education and the manufacturing. The Premier is determined to get Mpumalanga Province to develop itsown renewable(solar,biomass and wind) and hydro power stations to alleviate the power shortages that have unfortunately ushered load shedding. The Premier undertook to be hands on involved in the implementation of the agreed projects as time is of essence. The trip has been grueling but has been successful.

The eating area at the Campus was filled to capacity by students who came to witness the academic achievement oftheir fellow classmates and friends. Students could not contain their excitement as they whistled, screamed and ululated each time the programme director calls the names of the top achievers. In order for the students to be awarded, the following criterion was used, 80% average for the Business and 75% for the Engineering studies respectively.The awards catered for Level 2, 3 and 4 respectively. The Deputy Minister said this as her department, which subsidises community media through the Media Diversity and Development Agency, recently announced that in order to offer support, it was looking at setting aside 30% of its advertising to the sector.

As economic growth contracts,unemployment figures grow and regard for the rule of law deteriorates, vehicle tracking and recovery provider Cartrack says this will drive up theft and hijackings of vehicles, trucks and cargos for sale into the illicit local and cross-border markets. Approximatel y 50% of stolen and hijacked vehicles are disposed of within South Africa, 30% are exported to other countries while 20% find their way into chop shops and the second hand parts market. And as long as cashstrapped consumers are prepared to look the other way to save a buck and fuel demand, criminal

syndicates will continue to operate and flourish. The economics of crime“Official crime statistics show a 12.3% increase in carjacking to 11 221 reported cases, while our own truck hijackings stats increased by 16% in the last financial year to Feb 2015, which aligns with similar figures released by the Road Freight Association. The association reported 1 150 truck hijackings across the industry during the same reporting period. The escalation is rapid and significant. Anecdotally, we have always seen a trend whereby vehicle crimes increase during times of economic stress, but now more reports are showing a direct correlation between crime rates and economic and social conditions. Beyond the economic link to crime rates, various studies also state that there are many extenuating factors that drive this trend, including the presence of youth gangs, drugs, alcohol consumption and the availability of firearms. Gangs operating drug and vehicle theft syndicates are rife across South Africa, particularly in Gauteng and the Western Cape. Exacerbating this, the perceived or real high levels of corruption, instability in our law enforcement agencies along with perceived low criminal prosecution rates also play a role in bolstering crime levels as criminals believe they can act with impunity.
