President’s Report

Brothers,

As the President of Alpha Upsilon, it is my pleasure to report to you on the continuing success of our chapter.

We continue to uphold excellence in academics, campus involvement, philanthropy, and athletics. Our fraternity’s average GPA was a 3.43 compared to the 3.33 average of all Interfraternity Council members. This ranks us third academically, and we are proud of this performance given our size and our active social schedule.

You will be pleased to hear that we have expanded our already strong presence in campus leadership We currently have members serving as Plainsmen, with three brothers holding those positions, including one serving as Vice President of Athletics. In addition, our chapter is represented broadly across campus leadership through roles in SGA Senate, SGA Cabinet, SGA Freshman Forum, IFC Cabinet, and as IFC Delegates, as well as individual leadership positions such as IFC Vice President of Administration and IFC Court Chair We are also excited by the opportunity to support Willis Orr for this year’s SGA President and Jackson Morse for SGA Treasurer. We are confident in both candidates and have plans in place as a chapter to fully support their campaigns.

We look forward to continuing our strong tradition of philanthropy after raising $75,000 this past year. Many of our brothers are actively involved in nonprofit organizations throughout Auburn, including but not limited to Campus Kitchen, BigHouse, The Exceptional Foundation, Project Uplift, the Humane Society, the Hudson Family Foundation, the Lee County Food Bank, and various local church initiatives.

I am also pleased to share that fraternity intramurals are underway, and our Fiji team is pursuing its ninth consecutive intramural basketball championship. We take great pride in this streak and look forward to the opportunity to defend eight straight titles.

Finally, our chef, Pyong Lee, continues to provide top-tier meals, which play a key role in fostering the strong brotherhood that remains the hallmark of this chapter

Best,

Alumni Weekend

We are excited to report details from our first ever “Alumni Weekend,” held this fall for the Auburn vs. Kentucky football game. Over the past year, we have made it our mission to strengthen our relationships with alumni and to celebrate the incredible legacy of Phi Gamma Delta

This year's Alumni Weekend was dedicated to brothers who attended Auburn between 1990 and 2000. To show our appreciation, we invited these brothers to join us for a round of golf on Friday, October 31st. The following day, we hosted a tailgate highlighting these Fiji alumni by displaying old photos, glomeratas, and composites that showcased the memories and traditions from this decade.

We thank all of you who stopped by and helped make the weekend a success We look forward to seeing you again at future events as we soon join you as alumni ourselves.

Alumni Spotlight

We are proud to recognize Ron Anders Jr. (PC ‘82) a distinguished alumnus whose time in Fiji left a lasting impact on his life

My name is Ron Anders, and I was a member of Phi Gamma Delta at Auburn during my college years. My time in the fraternity remains one of the most meaningful chapters of my life Fiji was far more than a place to live or a social organization It was a brotherhood that shaped who I am today

Living in the original South College Fiji house created an experience I will always cherish. Our house mother, Jane, made the place feel like home, and I’m still in touch with her today Willie Mae and Pearl took great care of us, preparing three great meals a day and their presence was a big part of what made life in the house so special.

Our chapter experienced a lot of success during my time at Auburn, including four fraternity football championships and three All-Campus championships. We also supported each other beyond athletics, especially during SGA elections, and philanthropy activities. Events like Burning Down the House, Happy Birthday Hawaii, Fiji Island, and Peach Basket were some of the most memorable parts of my Auburn experience.

My connection to Fiji also extended beyond my own membership My mother served as the Fiji Mothers President for nine straight years. I was a cheerleader for two years and had the honor of serving as Head Cheerleader and Mic Man during my senior year. My Fiji brothers were the people who pushed me to be an Auburn cheerleader. One of my favorite memories from Auburn was playing pickup basketball with Charles Barkley, who lived right behind the Fiji house.

After college, I worked with my family’s business, Anders Bookstore, for 20 years. As a lifelong resident of Auburn, I wanted to serve the city I so deeply cared about. I was appointed to the city council and after 6 years I was elected as Mayor of Auburn in 2018 and continue to serve in that role today.

Fiji provided me with unforgettable memories and a strong foundation rooted in brotherhood and shared values. The lessons I learned during my time in the fraternity have stayed with me long after graduation. My experience at Auburn and in Phi Gamma Delta played an important role in shaping the person I am today, and it is a chapter of my life I will always value.
