Family-owned auctioneer strengthens its North American network as The Auction Company joins the Euro Auctions group. uro Auctions has expanded its presence in the United States following the acquisition of Californiabased The Auction Company, adding two auction sites and further strengthening its reach across North America. The move brings The Auction Company's established operations in Colton and Madera, along with its Murrieta office, into the Euro Auctions network. The California locations will work alongside the group's existing US business under the Yoder & Frey brand, creating a stronger coast-to-coast presence. Both businesses are family owned and have built their reputations around customer service, long-term relationships and professional auction expertise. The acquisition also adds to Euro Auctions' wider international network, which spans North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australasia. Jonnie Keys, Euro Auctions, comments: “The Auction Company is an excellent fit for our network. We look for strong, owner-operated businesses that share our values and commitment to customers and Claudia, Steve and their team have built exactly that. The partnership strengthens our West Coast presence while giving The Auction Company's customers access to a truly international buyer network.” Established in 2003 by Claudia Knopp and Steve Gorin, The Auction Company has become a respected auction business serving contractors, rental firms, transport operators, municipalities and government

agencies throughout California and the western United States. Its auctions cover construction machinery, heavy equipment, rental fleets, trucks, trailers, vehicles and government surplus assets. Knopp and Gorin will continue leading the business alongside their existing team, ensuring customers retain the same local service while benefiting from Euro Auctions' global marketing reach and international buyer audience. Claudia Knopp said: “We have always built our business around our customers and our team. Joining Euro Auctions allows us to retain that local focus while giving our customers access to a much larger international marketplace.” Steve Gorin added: “Our customers will continue dealing with the same people and at the same locations. The difference is that their equipment can now be marketed to
buyers around the world.” Following the acquisition, Euro Auctions now operates six auction sites in the United States, seven in Canada, five across Europe, one in the UAE and one in Australia, further reinforcing its strategy of combining regional expertise with a global marketplace for buyers and sellers.
About Euro Auctions Founded in 1998 in Dromore, Northern Ireland, Euro Auctions is a leading auctioneer of used industrial equipment, construction machinery and agricultural machinery. The best auction purchases rarely come down to luck. Preparation, research and knowing when to walk away can all make a difference when it comes to securing genuine value. uctions offer buyers the chance to source everything from vehicles and machinery to property, furniture and business assets, often at competitive prices. With more sales now taking place online, it's also easier than ever to browse and bid on lots without attending in person. But with so much choice available, knowing how to approach an auction can be just as important as finding the right lot. Whether you're new to auctions or a regular bidder, a considered approach can help you make better decisions and avoid some common pitfalls.
Start with the Research Successful bidding starts well before the auction opens. Take time to research the auctioneer, the sale and the lots you're interested in. Look carefully at descriptions, photographs and condition reports, and compare similar items to get a feel for their current market value. Where possible, make use of viewing opportunities, particularly when buying higher-value assets. If something isn't clear from the listing, contact the auctioneer before bidding rather than making assumptions. The more you know about an item beforehand, the easier it is to recognise genuine value when bidding begins.
Set a Budget That Includes Everything The hammer price isn't necessarily the final price you'll pay. Depending on the auction, additional costs could include a buyer's premium, VAT, delivery, dismantling or
collection fees. Work these costs into your budget before you bid and decide on your maximum spend in advance. Having a clear limit makes it easier to stay disciplined when the bidding becomes competitive.
Read the Terms, Not Just the Listing Every auction can operate slightly differently, so don't overlook the small print. Check payment deadlines, accepted payment methods, collection arrangements and any requirements around deposits or registration. It's also worth considering the practicalities of the purchase. If you're buying machinery, for example, have you thought about transportation? If you're purchasing a vehicle, do you know when and how it needs to be collected? A few minutes spent reading the terms can save considerable hassle later.
Make Finding Auctions Easier With thousands of lots being advertised, finding the right opportunities can sometimes be the biggest challenge. Using search
tools and personalised alerts can help buyers keep track of relevant sales without having to search manually every time. Set alerts around the keywords, categories, locations or auctioneers you're interested in and you'll be better placed to spot opportunities as they're listed. For trade buyers looking for particular types of stock or equipment, this can be especially useful.
Know When to Walk Away Perhaps the most valuable bidding skill is knowing when to stop. It’s easy to get caught up in a competitive auction, but if bidding moves beyond your limit or the item's value, walking away is often the smarter decision. Winning isn't everything, making purchases that represent good value is. Find your next opportunity with Auction News, bringing auction listings together to help buyers find the sales and lots that matter to them.
