Auctioneer Feature
BPI has successfully completed a series of agricultural machinery auctions following the closure of Midlands-based dealership, Rea Valley Tractors.
Delivered on behalf of a finance company, the first phase of sales generated over £2 million from assets previously operated by the dealer. Representing leading brands such as John Deere, New Holland, Valtra and JCB, the opening auctions featured a strong mix of tractors, telehandlers, combines, attachments and support equipment.
All machinery was moved to BPI’s York operating centre with Johnsons Haulage, where each item was valeted, inspected, catalogued, videoed, marketed and sold before delivery to buyers across the UK and overseas. The site is also registered for phytosanitary cleaning to DEFRA standards, ensuring full compliance for export.
BPI’s commercial and operations teams worked closely on cataloguing, logistics and marketing. The campaign combined targeted promotion in Farmers Weekly, Farmers Guide and other agricultural channels with outreach across BPI’s extensive buyer network, attracting farmers, contractors, overseas dealers and end users.
Competition was strong, with sustained bidding from UK and international buyers. Notable results included:
• 2022 John Deere 8RX 410 Four Tracked Tractor –£155,000
• 2024 Valtra Q305 4WD Tractor – £127,000
• 2023 New Holland T7.270 4WD Tractor – £111,000
• 2024 JCB 542-70 Telehandler – £85,000
• 2023 Kuhn Espro 4000R Seed Drill – £53,000
Nathan Burnham, Associate Director at BPI, commented: “The scale of this project reflects both the importance and the resilience of the agricultural industry. Despite challenging trading conditions, there remains huge demand for quality machinery — and sales of this size offer buyers rare access to premium equipment at realistic prices. It’s been a significant undertaking for our team, but one that has demonstrated the strength of our process and our buyer network.”
Kevin Gardner, Commercial Manager at BPI, added: “This sale brought to market an outstanding selection of modern, well-maintained machinery from some of the most respected manufacturers in the industry. The level of buyer engagement we’ve seen — particularly for tractors and telehandlers — highlights just how active the market remains for quality agricultural equipment. It’s been encouraging to see so many long-standing customers and new buyers alike taking part.”
Working with Johnsons Haulage ensured an efficient and environmentally conscious operation, reducing dead miles and lowering CO₂ emissions. The haulier delivered around 75% of sold assets across the UK and overseas, from Scotland to Southampton, Ireland and Belgium.
Wayne Johnson, Transport Manager at Johnsons Haulage, said: “It’s been an easy process working alongside Nathan, Kevin and the wider BPI team. Everything has gone smoothly, which isn’t always the case with projects of this scale. We’ve also been able to combine multiple buyers’ equipment onto shared loads, helping to minimise CO₂ impact and improve delivery efficiency.”
Further Rea Valley Tractors auctions will follow, featuring ex-hire telehandlers, recently registered vehicles and Kuhn tedders. BPI continues to support the farming community with transparent, well-managed sales that deliver strong returns and trusted asset disposal solutions.

If you’re in the market for a new fridge, oven or washing machine, you might be surprised to learn that some of the best deals aren’t found on the high street — they’re happening at white goods auctions.
These specialist sales have become a go-to for homeowners, landlords and businesses alike, offering a huge range of quality appliances at a fraction of their retail price. From ex-display washing machines to surplus stock ovens, you’ll find trusted brands sold by verified UK auctioneers — all from the comfort of your own home.
What Are White Goods Auctions?
The term white goods may have started with enamel finishes, but today’s auctions feature everything from sleek stainless steel to matte black appliances.
Typical lots include:
• Fridges and freezers
• Washing machines and tumble dryers
• Cookers, ovens and hobs
• Dishwashers and microwaves
Many come from retail returns, ex-display stock or liquidated business assets, so you can often secure items that are new or nearly new — ideal for home upgrades or multiple property fit-outs.
How Online Appliance Auctions Work
Most UK white goods auctions now run entirely online, letting you browse catalogues, register and bid from anywhere.
• Timed auctions: Open for a set period so you can bid at your own pace.
• Live auctions: Real-time events that capture the excitement of a traditional sale.
Listings include clear photos, condition reports and full descriptions so you can bid with confidence. After winning, you’ll receive payment and collection details — with many auctioneers now offering delivery options too.
Why Buyers Are Turning to Auctions
• Save big: Secure quality appliances for a fraction of their RRP.
• Shop sustainably: Give perfectly good items a second life.
• Enjoy variety: Access discontinued and premium models.
• Trust verified sellers: Transparent listings and condition reports.
For landlords, developers and hospitality operators, auctions are also a cost-effective way to source multiple appliances at once.
Smart Bidding Tips
• Research the auctioneer and read their terms.
• Compare retail prices before you bid.
• Review photos and condition reports carefully.
• Remember to factor in VAT, buyer’s premiums and delivery fees.
• Set a limit and stick to it.
A little preparation can make the difference between an ordinary purchase and a brilliant bargain.
