A series of online auctions featuring construction machinery, commercial vehicles and support equipment from Caldwell Construction Limited will be held later this month, with the sales being managed by BPI Asset Advisory.
The auctions are being conducted on behalf of the company’s administrators, PKF Littlejohn Advisory, together with several major finance companies. Caldwell Construction, a groundworks and civil engineering contractor with operations in Stoke-on-Trent and Warrington, employed more than 400 staff and subcontractors and reported revenue of approximately £58million to March 2025.
The business, which provided groundworks services to national housebuilders across the Midlands and North West, entered administration following cashflow pressures. Like many companies operating in the sector, it faced a combination of rising costs, project delays and wider market uncertainty.
Paul Smith, Partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory UK LLP, said: "The construction sector has faced challenging trading conditions over recent years, including increasing costs, delays to schemes and wider market uncertainty. These pressures were exacerbated at Caldwell, placing significant strain on cashflow and operations."
The online auctions will run from 23rd–27th March and will feature a wide selection of assets across several categories. Lots will include tracked excavators,
articulated dumpers, tandem and trench rollers, commercial panel vans, as well as office and IT equipment.
The sales present an opportunity for buyers to acquire machinery, vehicles and operational equipment from a well-known contractor, with all items subject to vendor approval.
Emily Higginbottom, Machinery & Business Asset Surveyor at BPI Asset Advisory, commented: "Working closely with the administrators and finance partners, we are ensuring a structured and transparent sale process. These auctions represent a rare chance to secure a broad range of construction machinery and commercial vehicles."
Viewings are available by appointment and interested buyers are encouraged to register to bid online ahead of the auctions. To arrange a viewing or register, contact carol.allen@bpiaa.com.

Asset
disposal specialists BPI Asset Advisory were appointed to manage the sale of the personal workshop of renowned British furniture designer and craftsman Mark Wilkinson OBE.
The online auction featured more than 100 lots, presenting buyers with a rare chance to acquire machinery and tools from a workshop shaped by decades of craftsmanship and innovation.
Widely regarded as a pioneer of modern British kitchen design, Wilkinson launched his first kitchen range in 1977, helping to popularise the English country kitchen style. He later co-founded Smallbone of Devizes and, in 1981, established Mark Wilkinson Furniture. After selling the business in 2009, he continued to play an active role as Group Creative Director. In 2010, he was awarded an OBE for services to the furniture industry and charitable causes.
The workshop sale included a rare restored Wadkin RU woodturning lathe alongside a carefully curated selection of machinery from Wadkin and Paoloni, as well as specialist woodworking equipment, traditional hand tools, furniture and woodturning supplies. Each lot reflected the precision, durability and craftsmanship associated with Wilkinson’s work.
The auction was led by Richard Travis, Industrial Specialist at BPI, who worked closely with the Wilkinson family to ensure the sale was conducted with care and respect. Particular attention was given to accurately presenting the workshop and reaching professional woodworkers, furniture makers and collectors worldwide.
The auction attracted strong national and international interest, reflecting both the quality of the equipment and the historic significance of its provenance. The sale demonstrated how specialist asset disposal can be delivered with professionalism and sensitivity, allowing the tools of Mark Wilkinson OBE to continue their working life in workshops around the world.
To see more from the sale and gain further insight into how the auction was managed, watch the full case study video from BPI Asset Advisory. The video highlights key lots from Mark Wilkinson OBE’s personal workshop and shares behind-the-scenes detail on how the specialist sale was brought to market.

Euro Auctions has confirmed the acquisition of Canadian firm Weaver Auctions, marking a further step in the group’s international expansion and strengthening its presence across North America.
The deal adds two Canadian auction sites to the Euro Auctions portfolio and forms part of a wider growth strategy that has seen the group increase auction activity and revenues globally. With the addition of the Weaver locations, Euro Auctions now operates seven sites across Canada and 18 worldwide, hosting more than 300 auctions each year.
Canadian Expansion Strengthens Euro Auctions Network
Weaver Auctions operates from Rycroft, Alberta and Prince George, British Columbia, where it has built a strong reputation within the construction and agricultural equipment sectors across Western Canada.
The business will now join Euro Auctions’ established Canadian network alongside Michener Allen, Jardine Auctioneers, North Toronto Auction and Coast2Coast Collector Car Auctions.
The existing management team, including co-owners Jeff and Yvette Weaver, will remain in place to ensure continuity and maintain the strong regional relationships built by the business. The family-run nature of Weaver Auctions also aligns closely with Euro Auctions’ own company values.
Bringing Weaver Auctions into the group increases equipment volumes within the global network while expanding access for international buyers.
Derek Keys of Euro Auctions commented: “The acquisition of Weaver Auctions is an important step in strengthening our global platform. Canada is a key market for construction and agricultural equipment and integrating Weaver into our network enhances the scale and international reach we can offer vendors.”
Strong 2025 Performance Supports Strategic Growth
The announcement follows a strong year of trading for the Euro Auctions group in 2025, which included:
• A double-digit increase in group revenue year-on-year
• Three acquisitions in Canada, including Jardine Auctions, North Toronto Auctions and Associated Auto Auctions / Coast 2 Coast
• The opening of a new Republic of Ireland auction site
• More than 300 auction events held across global locations
Demand has remained particularly strong across the construction, agricultural and industrial sectors, supported by infrastructure investment and ongoing equipment fleet renewals.
Positioned for Continued Growth
With expanded operations in Canada, continued investment across the United States and increased auction activity throughout Europe, Euro Auctions enters 2026 with strong momentum. Further infrastructure investment is also planned across mainland Europe, Ireland and the UK.
Keys added: “With revenue growth, increased auction activity and continued investment in infrastructure, we are well positioned to support our customers across the UK and Europe while expanding our international footprint. Our strategy remains focused on strategic expansion, operational efficiency and strengthening our global buyer base.”
Further updates on auction schedules and developments across the Euro Auctions network are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Paying full price for
household appliances doesn’t have to be the default.
White goods auctions offer a surprisingly smart way to secure fridges, washing machines, ovens and more, often at a fraction of retail cost. Beyond the savings, they’re a sustainable choice, giving quality appliances a second life instead of letting them go to waste.
What Are White Goods Auctions?
“White goods” might sound old-fashioned, but it simply refers to large household appliances - traditionally in white enamel, though modern finishes now include stainless steel, matte black and other contemporary styles. These auctions typically feature fridges, freezers, washing machines, dryers, cookers, ovens, hobs, dishwashers and microwaves.
These items often come from retail returns, ex-display stock, surplus inventory or liquidated business assets. Many are brand-new or nearly new, making auctions an attractive option for households, landlords, property developers and hospitality businesses alike.
How Online Appliance Auctions Work
Most UK white goods auctions now run entirely online, making it easy to browse, bid and win from anywhere. Detailed descriptions, condition reports and high-quality photos allow you to assess each item before placing a bid. Some auctions are timed, opening and closing over a set period, while others run live in real time, replicating the energy of a traditional auction room.
Once you win a lot, the auctioneer provides payment and collection instructions, with many offering convenient delivery services to make the process seamless.
Why Buyers Keep Coming Back
Auctions aren’t just about scoring bargains, they’re about opportunity.
• Cost savings: Appliances frequently go for a fraction of their retail price.
• Sustainability: Buying pre-owned or ex-display items reduces waste and extends product life.
• Variety: Discounted models, premium brands and hard-to-find appliances often appear.
• Efficiency: Bulk puprchases are simple, making auctions ideal for landlords, developers and hospitality operators.
Tips for Bidding Like a Pro
Do your homework: research the auctioneer, read lot descriptions, and understand the terms of sale. Compare retail prices to know the true value, check condition reports, factor in buyer’s premiums and delivery costs, and set a clear bidding limit. With preparation, bidding becomes a confident, strategic process rather than a gamble.
Staying Ahead of the Auction Game
Auction stock changes constantly and the best deals rarely linger. Platforms like Auction News gather upcoming white goods auctions from verified UK auctioneers, allowing you to set preferences and receive alerts for the types of appliances you want. Signing up for a free account ensures you never miss an opportunity to snap up high-quality appliances at unbeatable prices.
White goods auctions aren’t just a way to buy appliances, they’re a smarter, more sustainable and surprisingly exciting way to furnish your home or business. With a little research and an eye for quality, you can turn what seems like a niche market into a practical advantage.
