You’re under arrest for being sexy My time as a police captain at the offworld settlement of Helior Prime was some of the best fun I’ve had making stories in Second Life™.
source of struggle and conflict that I had a great time fleshing out (pun intended).
Every night I’d strap on my straps, boot up my boots and recharge my batteries for (and with) some good-old fashioned roleplay.
Kere grappled with his past, his robot parts, and his ideals, eventually proving worthy of a appointment to head of the police force, by a friend who was generous in his trust.
I’m a big old nerd. I love scifi, I love storytelling, I grew up with comic books and here I was, in a fantastically detailed and immersive place with impressive backstory, where I was welcomed and eventually given an opportunity to play a significant role in shaping it.
As Chief or Police, I would patrol regularly – nights mostly due to my incredibly incompatible time zone in New Zealand – and happen upon new denizens (when I was lucky), keeping them on the straight and narrow. Ok, well, nothing about it was straight, and definitely not narrow.
Helior’s version of Kere had started out as a refugee from a transport vessel – working as an agent for a shady corporation that had done weird stuff by adding robot bits to his body. It was a

permeate the stillness of the city’s cold dark nights, and people kept to their safe spaces. I asked this citizen if he was ok. I reassured him. I did a perimeter check and came back to let him know he’d be ok. I comforted him and, despite my cyber augmentations which were seen as risky by some, let him know that the long arm of the law in this particular place was one that he could trust. After our encounter had played out, he told me he really enjoyed our scene. That it was refreshing not having someone who played a cop just wanting an excuse to arrest and have his wicked way with him in the cells. Sure it might have been hot, but we could do that any time. You don’t need to go through all the roleplay steps just for that. We were both looking for a story, and
we found one – well actually, we made one. Together. We built trust between our characters, between ourselves as strangers at our keyboards on opposite sides of the world, and as new friends. I loved my time at Helior and I’m grateful to Sid who built and maintained it for so long. It gave me new friends, fulfilled my creative need for storytelling, and satisfied my narcissism for dressing up and looking all techno and sexy. Second Life™ is many things, and not the least of them a fantastic excuse for dressing up. If you get into trouble, come and find me. I still have the costume somewhere.

As soon as Second Life™ came into existence, one of the first things residents did was start working on how their avatars looked. Finding skin, hair, and clothing is an integral part of life on the grid. Your overall appearance determines the first impressions people have on you when you meet. The economy that has been built around the fashion industry truly drives everything else. Of course, with this industry, came advertising. Brands needed Models to show off their clothing, this translated very quickly to the world of high fashion, couture, and ever evolving Fashion shows. Spearheaded by the great Frolic Mills, these shows took on new life in a way the metaverse had never seen before. In keeping with this tradition, we partnered with OnlyDivaSL to put on a fashion show during the SL23B celebrations highlighting fashion looks starting with the roots of Prim and going into the modern Mesh era with the theme of Red-Carpet Fashion. Second Life™ has long been home to sororities, motorcycle clubs, social organizations, roleplay communities, and countless groups built around shared hobbies and lifestyles. Yet beneath the endless calendar of parties, shopping events, and social gatherings lies a quieter question: What does genuine community look like in a digital world? For the women of the Regal Rose Society, the answer begins not with events or titles, but with intention. Founded by Zuri Ayashi, the Regal Rose Society was created to offer something increasingly rare in online spaces — a thoughtfully cultivated sisterhood where authenticity, grace, compassion, and meaningful human connection take precedence over popularity or exclusivity. Created by SEMINA (semiiina) and Celtic McDaniels (celtic3147), the sim occupies a full region with approximately 30,000 prims. Following its reopening on June 21, Silent Melody returned with a completely redesigned layout and a refreshed environment. The region uses an EEP that recreates the feeling of an early morning wrapped in a light mist, bathing the landscape in soft, gentle light. Subtle ambient nature sounds complete the experience, adding immersion without overwhelming the peaceful setting.

Latin Chorizo Burgers Ingredients 3⁄4 lb ground sirloin 3⁄4 lb ground chuck 1⁄2 lb raw chorizo sausage, casings removed and crumbled 1 tablespoon adobo seasoning 1 large onion, grated 1⁄2 cup dry breadcrumbs 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 large yellow onions, finely sliced kosher salt, to season fresh ground pepper, to season 1⁄2 cup bottled and sliced jalapeno chile, drained 1⁄2 cup dark brown sugar 2 medium jarred roasted red peppers, drained 3⁄4 cup mayonnaise 6 slices oaxaca cheese or 6 slices mozzarella cheese 6 hamburger buns Instructions: In a large bowl, mix thoroughly by hand the ground beef, the chorizo, the adobo seasoning, the grated onion and the bread crumbs. Form the burgers into 6 patties without pressing them too much or they can become tough. Line a baking pan with waxed paper and put the burgers side-by-side in a single layer. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This will help the burgers hold together. If you make more than you need just separate with waxed paper and insert into a storage freezer bag for future use. To make the Caramelized Onion and Jalapeno Relish: Heat the olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-low heat. Add the onions and season with salt and pepper. Add the jalapeno chiles and the brown sugar. Saute for 15 minutes or until the onion and the chiles are caramelized and soft. Set aside. To make the Red Pepper Mayonnaise: Drain the roasted red peppers and put them in a blender or food processor. Add the mayonnaise, and season with salt and pepper. Puree the mayonnaise and roasted red peppers until well combined and the mixture is smooth. NOTE: This may be done up to 2 days ahead of time, and in fact the flavor will be more complete with an overnight chilling.

To cook the Latin Burgers: Preheat an outdoor grill or grill pan on the stove top over medium-high heat. Place the burgers on the hot grill or pan until cooked to desired doneness. Due to the raw chorizo in the recipe, at least medium-well is recommended, approximately 10 minutes on each side. In the last 5 minutes of cooking, top the burgers with the slices of cheese so it can melt. If your grill has a lid, putting it on briefly will help the cheese melt quickly and evenly. To serve: Spread about 1 tablespoon of the red pepper mayonnaise on both sides of the rolls. Lay a burger on the bottom halves, and top with a couple of spoonfuls of the caramelized onion and jalapeno relish. SUMMER 2026 | 163 | A.
Parmesan Truffle Fries Ingredients 4 large Idaho russet potatoes Vegetable oil enough for deep-frying or 2 tablespoons for the oven method 1 teaspoon of sea salt 1 teaspoon of Litehouse freeze-dried garlic garlic 1 teaspoon Litehouse freeze-dried parsley Truffle oil (best white truffle) 1 – 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese grated Instructions: In a small bowl, combine the salt, Litehouse freeze-dried garlic, and parsley. Set aside. You can peel the potatoes if desired or leave the peel on (my preference), and cut lengthwise into 1/4 inch slices. In a large bowl, fill with cold water and a handful of ice. Place the cut potatoes in the water and soak for about 20 – 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry. The potatoes need to be dried before cooking (especially if you’re frying). In The Oven Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl or gallon-sized plastic bag, toss the cut Idaho potatoes sticks with about 1 – 2 tablespoons of olive oil until lightly coated. A. | 164 | ATTENTION SL
Spread the Idaho potato sticks on the baking sheet in a single layer and bake in the preheated 425°F oven for about 30 minutes or until starting to get crispy, making sure to turn fries over halfway through baking time. In The Fryer If using a deep-fryer, heat deep-fryer to 350°F, or you can add enough vegetable oil to fill a deep saucepan half of the way full and heat over high heat. BE CAREFUL. DO NOT LEAVE HOT OIL UNATTENDED. You can test to see if the oil is hot enough by carefully dropping a small piece of bread into the hot oil, if the oil has reached 350°F, it will start to turn golden in 10 seconds. Fry in batches. Carefully add the fries and cook until golden, about 3 – 5 minutes. Using a slotted spoon or spider strainer, remove fries once they are golden and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. To keep warm, place fries in 250°F oven until ready to serve. To Season While fries are hot, sprinkle with the salt mixture and toss. Lightly drizzle with truffle oil, and garnish with grated Parmesan. Serve hot. Truffle Garlic Aioli Ingredients ½ cup mayonnaise ½ cup sour cream 1 tbsp black truffle oil 1 tsp minced garlic ½ tsp sea salt ½ tsp black pepper 1 tbsp lemon juice Instructions: Whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, truffle oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon juice in a medium bowl until smooth. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve. Tips and Tricks If you want a stronger truffle flavor, add a little extra truffle oil, but go slow, it can get overpowering quickly. For a lighter version, swap half the mayo with Greek yogurt. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until creamy. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until fully incorporated. Fold in the finely chopped strawberries and crisp rice cereal into the cheesecake mixture. Spoon the cheesecake filling over the graham cracker crusts in the muffin cups, smoothing the tops. Add a small dollop of strawberry jam on top of each cheesecake bite. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until set. Carefully remove the cheesecake bites from the muffin pan and serve chilled. Use cold heavy cream for better whipping results and a fluffier texture.
