Call for proposals: The Equity Review

Inaugural issue: Advancing a fair and equitable shift to a green future Deadline for proposals: June 9, 2025 The Equity Review, a biennial open-access publication being developed by the Atlantic Institute, is pleased to invite chapter proposals for its inaugural issue. This issue will focus on the theme “Advancing a fair and equitable shift to a green future.” As the world grapples with the growing challenges of climate change and environmental degradation, it is crucial to ensure that the transition to a sustainable and green future is both just and equitable. This issue aims to explore the intersection of equity, climate justice and sustainability, and examine the policies, practices and frameworks needed to achieve a fair and inclusive green transition. In the inaugural edition, we focus on how climate transitions — often framed as environmental and technological imperatives — are also critical moments to confront and redress systemic inequities. As the climate crisis intensifies, the need for inclusive, intersectional, decolonial and justice-oriented responses that recognize the uneven distribution of climate risks and benefits across communities, geographies and generations becomes ever more urgent. These transitions present not only technological and policy challenges, but also ethical and political opportunities to reimagine systems of power, resource distribution and decision-making. We welcome new and radically different and rigorously argued takes that engage critically with the concept of a just and equitable transition, particularly from perspectives that center and amplify voices from historically marginalized populations and regions. About The Equity Review The Equity Review is a biennial interdisciplinary publication that combines research, lived experience and practitioner knowledge to advance equity-focused solutions to systemic injustice. Currently being collaboratively explored by the Institute and Oxford University Press, it will serve as a platform for thought leadership that connects evidence-based insights with community-based perspectives.
