Welcome to Manhattan Beach. We know you will enjoy our little slice of paradise. The weather can vary a bit yet nothing uncomfortable as long as you remember to pack a light jacket along with your t-shirt.
We like to think of our community as a pedestrian community because you can get everywhere by bike, skateboard, walking or running. We challenge you to run up our famous eight-story sand dune at Sand Dune Park. If you do not want to budget time for parking or worry about a rental car we recommend one of the many on-demand car services to affordably deliver you to internationally known dining, legacy beach establishments, hot nightspots, exceptional shopping options, multiple exercise choices from gyms to yoga studios to spinning, relaxing day spas, and of course our famous beach. We are known as one of the premiere surf beaches in Southern California as well as a legacy beach for beach volleyball. Many beach volleyball legends developed their passion on the sand in Manhattan Beach.
We like to say our homes go right up to the water, a beautiful residential beach for a relaxing stroll or bike ride along our strand walkway and a separate bike path. The bike path can be a fun half-day ride North to Marina Del Rey, Venice and Malibu or South to Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach.
We have four corridors in Manhattan Beach. Downtown Manhattan Beach features boutique shopping, world class dining, and a wonderful photo op with our beautiful historic pier. The newly-renovated Roundhouse Aquarium at the end of the pier is a mustsee attraction for all ages. North Manhattan Beach, the historic El Porto area, home to classic surf bars, nightlife and cafes; the East Rosecrans corridor is home to great restaurants, grocery stores and Manhattan Beach Studios Media Campus where movies such as the Avatar franchise are being developed and many of your favorite TV shows. Manhattan Beach’s Sepulveda Avenue, running North/South separating East Manhattan Beach from West Manhattan Beach, is home to our newly renovated Manhattan Village Mall. This corridor includes many retail storefronts, community theatre, service industries, rental car companies, banks, auto dealers, mechanics, restaurant options and so much more. All four of Manhattan Beach’s primary corridors have hotels to accommodate your needs whether it be work or play.

Situated south of El Segundo and north of Hermosa and Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach is just minutes away from the world’s fifth largest airport –Los Angeles International Airport – and convenient to several major freeways, including the 405, 110 and 90. The city has a total area of 10.4 miles (including 3.88 square miles of land), with just over two miles of ocean frontage, 40 acres of recreational beaches and 59 acres of parkland. >>

Manhattan Beach is conveniently located near other well-known coastal communities such as Santa Monica, Venice and Marina del Rey. In Santa Monica, visitors can spend time at the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica Place and Third Street Promenade, which is a long stretch that showcases some of the most recognizable brands, including Zara, Louis Vuitton and Restoration Hardware. Manhattan Beach lies approximately 30 minutes away by car. The Expo Line opened in early 2016. Riders can travel from Santa Monica to Downtown Los Angeles, which now boasts five-star restaurants, concerts and the new Broad Museum on Grand Avenue.
Venice and Marina del Rey are approximately 20-25 minutes away. Venice has a wide variety of attractions ranging from art galleries, the boardwalk, bike paths, the

canals and trendy shopping and dining on Abbott Kinney and Rose Avenue. While Venice is edgy and eclectic, Marina del Rey, the neighboring community to the south of Venice is nautical. It is the largest private yacht harbor in the world. Take a boat tour, rent a sea doo or dine with beautiful views at Sapori or El Torito in Fisherman’s Village.
The 20-mile-long, light rail Metro Green Line has multiple stops near Manhattan Beach’s borders and provides easy access to adjacent beach communities, as well as eastern service to Norwalk.
Regional bus transit is provided by Municipal Area Express (MAX), Beach Cities Transit (BCT) and Commuter Express (Route 438 will get you to Downtown Los Angeles’ Financial District in just 40 minutes).
Gateway to LA’s Ocean Express shuttles people visiting or working in the LAX business district to stops downtown at Manhattan Beach Pier and the Manhattan Village Shopping Center. The ubiquitous mini-coach runs daily from 9 am to 9 pm.
For local residents 55 or older and disabled of all ages, Manhattan Beach Dial-a-Ride provides curb-to-curb bus service daily, Monday through Friday to any destination within the city and to most medical facilities in neighboring communities.
Manhattan Beach is also officially served by four licensed taxi franchises: All Yellow Taxi, Bell Cab Company, South Bay Yellow Cab Cooperative and United Independent Taxi. p

SURF, SAND, SUN & FUN
Situated along the coast of Southern California, there is always something going on in Manhattan Beach. From annual volleyball events to the weekly Farmers Market to the spectacular holiday fireworks display in December, rain or shine, you can find something to do.
Kicking off the year, a select number of Manhattan Beach Restaurants come together to integrate a prix fixe menu into the mix for patrons during the DineMB Restaurant Week. This week-long period gives crowds an opportunity to try new creations, as well as signature dishes known to each particular restaurant.
Looking into the spring, you can start out with Bite at the Beach, a food and craft beer tasting event. Given the hugely popular craft brew industry and the many publicized restaurants, patrons are given the chance to travel from booth to booth to indulge in a variety of pairings. Every year, this event contributes a portion of the proceeds to a local charity.
In the summer months, there are many activities to do on the beach including yoga, surfing, boarding and volleyball. Start your summer off right by celebrating Manhattan Beach’s Annual Summer Concerts in the Park. Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park series is an annual, summer-long event held each year at Polliwog Park.

Running from late June through Labor Day weekend, this free concert series has featured such talent as Grammy artist Lisa Haley and the Zydekats. Crowds flood the district along Highland Avenue between 32nd and 38th Streets for the North Manhattan Beach Summer Stroll in July. Businesses stay open late with special discounts and specials to patrons while food, refreshments and entertainment are available as well. Founded in 1962 by local racing legend, Ted Ernst, the Manhattan Beach Grand Prix is one of the country’s longest-running bike races. Held in July, the grand event attracts contestants from all over the world along with thousands of spectators to watch as top competitors navigate through a challenging course.
Rounding out the summer in August is the world-famous International Surf Festival . Reigning for over 50 years, the annual festival features several sporting competitions, but most known for its Six-Man Volleyball Tournament in which world-class professionals and college players alike emerge
for this two-day, action-packed event.
Also held in August is another influential volleyball tournament that draws both professional and amateur players. The Manhattan Beach Open . Many local and national players step up to the court in this event. Some major players have won the tourney including U.S. Olympic silver medalist, Mike Dodd. Luckily summer never really ends here in Manhattan Beach. If you’re looking for things to do on land, there’s plenty

December, take a walk over to North Manhattan Beach as the merchants along Highland keep their doors open late during the North Manhattan Beach Open House and Holiday Walkabout . This annual event features holiday music, refreshments, raffles, door prizes and great sale items for the holiday season. End your year with some hot cocoa and fireworks at the family-friendly Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks Festival.
