STUDENT SPOTLIGHT LEELA BASOLE ‘27 X GOLF

At AIS since 3K, Leela is now a junior in the IB Diploma Program and a competitive golfer.

What does AISx mean to you?

AISx is quality education with flexible scheduling. I never wanted to compromise my academics for athletics, but I also wanted a way to balance them. This has given me the opportunity to do both at the highest level that I can.

How does AISx work with your travel and competition schedule?

I travel a lot for tournaments, and they usually last three to four days, plus practice rounds. With AISx, I come to school most mornings and have my free blocks at the end of the day so I can leave early for practice.

I never wanted to compromise my academics for athletics.

Knowing I’m not missing as much class as I would if I were a regular DP student makes a big difference.

How has AISx helped you pursue your passion and stay on track academically?

I don’t have to compromise anything. There’s so much flexibility and ways to work around whatever your passion is.

Redefining School Meet the Students

DOMINIK ‘26 X SOCCER

LAUREN ‘32 X TENNIS

AISx works for me because I can stay on track academically but still do what I love.

This season, Lauren secured her first tournament victory in Atlanta after coming here to train with AISx and MAA.

I used to watch from the stands and now I play on the field.

Dominik made his MLS debut for Atlanta United on March 1, 2025, becoming one of the youngest players to start a match for the club. He is a Senior in AISx.

LUKE ‘27 X FENCING

AISx is the best program I’ve ever been part of. It allows me to continue my rigorous academics while performing the best that I can in my sport.

Captain of the winning U.S. fencing team in the Fencing World Cup with over 60+ countries participating.

WHITTY ‘26 X GOLF

AISx is everything for me. It’s allowed more flexibility when playing in tournaments, which is a big commitment, and AISx has helped me balance everything.

Whitty will continue his golf career at William & Mary, becoming the only male student from his class accepted into the program.

HUTTON ‘29 X TENNIS

My day as an AISx student starts the same as everyone else, but once I get to tennis, everything changes—from pace to play to individual learning.

Hutton’s favorite part of the AIS community is the teachers and coaches, who always go above and beyond to support him.
