AASB CSFO Evaluation- Superintendent Form Introduction
Alabama’s School Fiscal Accountability Act designates the method of employment and defines the fiscal responsibilities of the chief school financial officer (CSFO). The CSFO is an employee appointed by the local board (with input by the superintendent) and works under the direct supervision of the superintendent. The CSFO is an employee of the board and has a fiduciary responsibility to the board. This evaluation form is designed to enable the superintendent to evaluate the CSFO based on the handling of the duties designated in Title 16 of the Code of Alabama and by state regulations. Questions have been organized into four key areas: Understanding of Role, Professional Behavior, Position Responsibility, and Communication and Collaboration. Use this instrument to rate the CSFO's performance over the preceding year. Rate each indicator on a scale of 1 to 4. If you rate an item a 1 or 4 it is please include a comment in the space provided for that section to provide insight into your rating. Please remember the following evaluation best practices Be fair Be based on the whole years performance and communicated expectations. Ratings should on a professional level; personal feelings should be set aside when completing the evaluation. Should hold no surprises. This evaluation is not a time to bring up areas of improvement that have not be discussed throughout the year. It should be used to identify if those areas still need improvement.

RATING SCALE: 4 - Demonstrates Excellence Performance at this level far exceeds expectations and demonstrates exceptional quality and/or unique contribution. 3 -Exceeds Expectations Performance at this level consistently demonstrates high levels of performance and may, from time to time, exceed expectations. 2 - Meets Expectations Performance at this level consistently fulfills expectations and may, from time to time, exceed expectations. 1 - Needs Improvement Performance at this level consistently does not meet expectations. N/A=Not Observed Performance was not observed in this area.
