Chapter President Dr. Arlene Prince

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Sorors, this scripture is not just a verse on a page, it is a love letter from God to each of us. It reminds us that our lives are woven with purpose, that every gift we carry and every dream stirring within us has been intentionally placed there by His hand. We are not moving through this season by chance; we are walking in the unfolding of God’s divine plan.
As women, we are uniquely equipped to bring forth possibility, to create, to nurture, to lead, and to inspire. Hope is not passive; it is active. It calls us to see beyond what is and believe in what can be.

Hope calls us to lift our heads, open our hearts, and step boldly into the opportunities God is setting before us.
This month, let us awaken to the truth that:
❖ We are chosen: our paths are not random but directed by God’s loving design.
âť– We are equipped: every challenge is met with grace, wisdom, and strength already within us.
âť– We are creators: with God as our guide, we transform possibility into reality and blessing into legacy.
Sorors, let us walk into September with confidence and joy, knowing that the same God who spoke promise into our future is the One who walks beside us today. May hope be the fire that ignites our vision, fuels our service, and deepens our bond as women of faith.

The 57th National Convention of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was set to be an unforgettable week in Washington, D.C., packed with empowering sessions, exciting events, and opportunities to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood. From July 8–13, sorors gathered in the birthplace of the sorority for a schedule that blended tradition, innovation, and plenty of fun.

The agenda included events that uplifted and educated. The Public Meeting spotlighted Delta’s commitment to social justice and advocacy, while the Collegiate Luncheon honored the energy and vision of student leaders. The Social Action Luncheon did not disappoint as its always one of the favored events. Workshops and the lively Greek Step Show had sorors and other D9 members rocking with pride.
The convention concluded on Sunday, July 13, with an uplifting Ecumenical Service, a spirited Gospel/Jazz Brunch, and the Transition of Officers, ensuring Delta Sigma Theta remains strong as it steps boldly into the future.
The 57th National Convention was not just a gathering—it was a homecoming of strength, service, and sisterhood. Each event was carefully designed to honor Delta’s legacy while inspiring the next generation of leaders.

The Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter came together for a dynamic and inspiring annual retreat on Saturday, August 9, bringing members into a full day of learning, planning, and celebrating sisterhood. Held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the retreat kicked off with warm greetings, prayer, and an energizing welcome from chapter leadership. Members enjoyed fellowship over coffee, connected with vendors, and were inspired by Mission Forward 3.0: Forward in Sisterhood, a message from the Dr. Arlene Prince that set the tone for the day. The morning session featured “Lessons from the Field,” with interactive DID Training designed to strengthen bonds of sisterhood and empower members with tools for leadership and service.

After a lively lunch break and opportunities to support local vendors, the afternoon transitioned into “The Game Plan,” where committee leaders shared important updates on program development, finance, policies, communications, and risk management. Engagement activities kept spirits high, ensuring members left not only informed but energized.

The retreat’s momentum carried into “The Homestretch,” highlighting the chapter’s vibrant Step Team, plans for the 85th Anniversary celebration, and action planning for the year ahead. Membership intake discussions rounded out the session, reflecting the chapter’s commitment to growth and sustainability.

The day concluded with “The Ninth Inning,” as members gathered for a powerful recap and closing led by the Chapter President, leaving everyone inspired to carry the mission forward. With its blend of education, celebration, and fellowship, the retreat served as both a renewal of purpose and a joyful reminder of the strength found in sisterhood.
During the retreat the chapter collected school supplies for local school aged children.
