Sorors,

Dr . Arlene Prince Dr . Arlene Prince

As we enter February, I extend heartfelt gratitude to each of you for the sisterhood and dedication that continue to define the Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter. This month invites us to reflect on our legacy, strengthen our connections, and recommit to the principles that distinguish Delta women—sisterhood, scholarship service, and social action.

January began with purpose as we gathered for the statewide Founders Day Celebration in North Charleston. Sharing fellowship with sorors from across South Carolina served as a powerful reminder of our collective strength and the enduring legacy entrusted to us by our 22 Founders. That experience set an inspiring tone for the year ahead.

As we observe Black History Month, we celebrate the brilliance, resilience, and contributions of our people. As Deltas, we stand on the shoulders of trailblazers whose courage and vision continue to guide our work. May their legacy inspire us to lead boldly, serve intentionally, and uplift our communities with purpose.

February also highlights the power of sisterhood. Through our service, collaboration, and support of one another, our bond remains a source of strength. Let us continue to nurture it with grace, accountability, and love.

As we prepare for an active and impactful March, I strongly encourage every soror to remain fully engaged and intentional about participation. Sisterhood Month activities are planned throughout March, and your presence is essential to the success and spirit of these efforts. Additionally, please plan to attend Delta Days at the State Capital on March 3, International Awareness and Involvement Women’s Day Brunch on March 7, Founders Day Program on March 14-15, and Financial Literacy Workshop on March 28.

Timely registration and adherence to participation requirements are vital to ensuring smooth and successful events. Please review the Chapter Notifications sent via email for important deadlines, registration details, and updates.

Thank you for the impactful work we continue to do in our community, and for your ongoing commitment, dedication, and service to Delta. I look forward to our collective engagement as we honor our legacy and move forward together.

With gratitude and sisterly love,

Dr. Arlene Prince Chapter President Dr. Arlene Prince

CHAPLAIN’S CORNER

“Be

Still, God Is at Work”

“Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” - Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

Sisters, stillness is not inactivity, it is trust in motion. To be still in God is not to stop caring, striving, or leading; it is to release the illusion that everything depends on us. God does not ask us to be still because He is idle, but because He is already at work.

In a world that celebrates hustle, noise, and constant output, stillness becomes an act of faith. When we are still, we declare that God is sovereign over our families, our callings, our health, our sorority, and our futures. Stillness reminds us that clarity comes not from rushing ahead, but from resting in alignment with Him.

This month, being still means LISTENING before reacting, PRAYING before deciding, and TRUSTING before worrying. It means anchoring ourselves in God’s presence and allowing His peace, not pressure to lead us forward.

SOUTH CAROLINA STATEWIDE FOUNDERS DAY OBSERVANCE

Chapter members joined sorors from across the state in North Charleston to celebrate 113 years of sisterhood at the South Carolina Statewide Founders Day hosted by the North Charleston Alumnae Chapter Despite winter weather concerns along the East Coast, sorors gathered for a weekend filled with fellowship, tradition, and service. Events included onsite registration, a spirited Welcome Reception themed “Carolina Girls in Denim and Pearls,” and a reverent Rededication Ceremony honoring our rich legacy.

The celebration continued with a Founders Day Luncheon featuring an inspiring keynote address by the 26th National President, Beverly E. Smith, whose powerful message reminded us that “we can’t give up now—we’ve come too far from where we’ve started from ” The weekend also included a vibrant vendor marketplace and meaningful public service initiatives supporting Cocky’s Reading Express and Closet of Hope. Together, the events reflected our unwavering commitment to sisterhood, sschilarship service, and the enduring legacy of our beloved Founders.

DELTA DEARS DO

Delta DEARs continue with the monthly Harvest Hope distributions. Each month participants are given “words of wisdom” or instruction to improve quality of life. This month, handouts were given regarding the ImportanceofPhysicalActivityforFamilies.

Physical activity refers to any body movement produced by muscles that uses energy. Health guidelines recommend that children engage in at least one hour of physical activity each day, while adults should aim for at least 30 minutes on most days. Activities lasting 10 minutes or more can contribute toward these daily requirements.

Regular physical activity provides numerous health benefits. It improves heart health, supports learning, helps control weight, and reduces the risk of chronic diseases It also strengthens bones, muscles, and joints, boosts energy levels, promotes better sleep, and reduces stress and anxiety. Additionally, being active can increase self-esteem and overallhappiness. SororsBerry,Ashford,LittlejohnMyers, Nelson,Weedon, andSavage
