Ses strates, témoins du passage du temps, deviennent le canevas sur lequel les artistes contemporains dessinent de nouvelles narrations. Chaque veine, chaque imperfection devient une source d'inspiration, invitant à explorer des récits enfouis. L'émergence d'un mouvement artistique autour de l'albâtre est ancrée dans la vision novatrice d'artistes audacieux, utilisant cette pierre comme médium pour une conversation entre le divin et le terrestre. Chaque œuvre devient une méditation, capturant l'essence même de la créativité. Ce mouvement artistique ouvre la voie à un voyage sans fin, créant un héritage artistique en constante expansion à mesure que de plus en plus d'artistes explorent les infinies possibilités de cette pierre. »

LE LIEU

La Galerie Alain Ellouz est située dans un véritable écrin historique de 270 m2 abritant les vestiges de l’ancienne église du couvent des Grands Augustins.

Le visiteur plonge dans l’univers poétique d’Atelier Alain Ellouz, où des compositions lumineuses d’albâtre et de cristal de roche révèlent la pureté intrinsèque de chaque pierre, portées par des structures minimalistes, habitant l’espace par les volumes comme par la lumière. Les séries limitées artistiques dévoilent des œuvres originales et collaboratives où chaque artiste s’approprie la pierre d’albâtre pour la sublimer. Les œuvres d’art et de design se côtoient et la lumière devient un langage esthétique, révélant des textures, des motifs et des couleurs uniques qui transforment les espaces en de véritables tableaux vivants.

L’art, le design et l’architecture fusionnent pour créer une expérience visuelle et sensorielle captivante.

The Gallery is tucked inside the 270 m 2 historical confines of the church of an Augustinian convent.

The Alain Ellouz Gallery immerses the visitor in the poetry of Atelier Alain Ellouz creations. Alabaster and rock crystal lighting compositions reveal the intrinsic purity of each stone. They’re supported by sleek structures in an expression of shape and light. On display, you’ll find limited series of original and collaborative pieces from artists who used their talents to heighten the stone’s qualities. Works of art coexist with AAE lighting, creating a language of beauty through unexpected textures, patterns and colors that transform the gallery’s spaces into vibrant scenes.

A NEW JOURNEY INSIDE THE WORLD OF ARTISTIC EPLORATION WITH ALABASTER

S’ouvrant à de nouveaux horizons esthétiques, Alain Ellouz invite des artistes à s’emparer de toute la richesse de l’albâtre et explorer la profondeur de la pierre, depuis la conception jusqu’à la réalisation d’oeuvres originales et collaboratives. Chaque artiste peut ainsi intégrer les qualités naturelles de l’albâtre à sa pratique artistique et rendre un hommage vibrant à cette pierre ancestrale en tant que nouveau médium artistique. Au cours de la dernière année, la galerie Alain Ellouz a collaboré avec divers talents issus de domaines artistiques variés, tels que la céramique, la photographie, la peinture et la vidéographie.

In his quest for new horizons, Alain Ellouz invites artists to intimately capture all the richness of alabaster. These artists are supported throughout their entire process of creating original and collaborative pieces. They are spurred to develop a dialog between alabaster’s intrinsic qualities and their own discipline. This innovative dynamic transforms an ancestral stone into tomorrow’s artistic medium. Over the past year, the Alain Ellouz Gallery has partnered with several creators from various artistic disciplines, including ceramists, photographers, painters, video engineers, etc.

Fondateur de l’Atelier Alain Ellouz et de la Fondation qui porte son nom, Alain se définit avant tout comme un artiste dans la mouvance de l’Art brut. Sculpteur par passion, Alain découvre l’albâtre en 1996. Cette rencontre va complètement changer sa vie.

En 2005, il oriente sa nouvelle entreprise vers ses deux passions : l’art et l’albâtre. Après avoir collaboré avec sa directrice artistique Marion Biais Sauvêtre aux collections de l’Atelier Alain Ellouz, il décide en 2021 d’orienter ses recherches vers l’art. En mars 2022, lors de l’inauguration de sa Fondation, il présente ses premières sculptures monumentales en albâtre qui ornent le parc entourant le bâtiment ainsi que ses Pixels d’albâtre rendant hommage aux carrières d’albâtre. En octobre 2022, pour sa première exposition intitulée Chevauchées sur fragments d’albâtre, Alain Ellouz signe plusieurs œuvres dans la continuité de sa première série « Pixels d’albâtre » et innove le concept de la toile d’albâtre en compagnie de deux artistes invités : Bernard Pourchet et Alistair Danhieux.

Creator of Atelier Alain Ellouz as well as of the foundation also named after him, Alain defines himself first and foremost as an artist from the outsider art movement. A passionate sculptor, Alain initially discovered alabaster in 1996. And that encounter marked a turning point in his life.

In 2005, he modeled his new company around two passions: art and alabaster. Following a handful of collections created in partnership with his artistic director, Marion Biais-Sauvêtre, in 2021 he decided to further pursue endeavors in the art world. In March 2022, he inaugurated his foundation, and by the same token he prenented not only some of his most stately sculptures in the gardens surrounding the building, but also his Pixels d’albâtre, which showcase the work involved in extracting alabaster from quarries. That following October, Alain Ellouz launched his first exhibition entitled Chevauchées sur fragments d’albâtre. During the same month he created several pieces as part of his pixels d’albâtre series, and he also developed the innovative toiles d’albâtre concept in collaboration with two guest artists, Bernard Pourchet and Alistair Danhieux.
