The School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies creates opportunities for career development, such as the Undergraduate Research Experience, where students can work directly with faculty on projects that develop students’ research, pedagogical, interviewing and archival skills. Our school works with local partners to provide students internships and career experience, such as the Arizona History Museum, Tempe History Museum and Arizona Jewish Historical Society.

Hannah Johnson graduated with degrees in philosophy (morality, politics and law) and political science. As a student, she interned at the Arizona State Legislature where she served the state senate as a policy intern. Since graduating, she has held numerous positions in the senate and is now a policy advisor in the Arizona Governor’s Office.

Aubrey F. graduated with a bachelor’s in history and found his way back to SHPRS to earn a master’s in history. As a student, he was hired as a curatorial assistant at Tempe History Museum, where he debuted his own exhibit titled “Tempe Signs” featuring historical signs from the city.
