The data science degree program at the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences prepares you for success in today’s job market.

The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences hosts the annual Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science Career Day, where students meet face-to-face with potential employers to learn about internship and employment opportunities. Students gain real-world experience participating in practical, cutting-edge industry projects working alongside corporate industry leaders, faculty and mentors in collaboration with ASU and The Data Mine community at Purdue University. Data scientists are in high demand. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects overall employment of data science occupations, one of the fastest growing fields in the nation, to grow 36% from 2023 to 2033.

Ben B. pursued a bachelor’s degree in data science while participating in the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program at ASU. This year, he will continue that work as a Fulbright Student Scholar in Lillestrom, Norway, where he will study the country’s use of alternative criminal sentencing practices.

According to U.S. News & Report, data scientists rank #8 in Best Jobs, with a median income of $108,000, many opportunities for advancement, below-average stress and great work-life balance.
