The Herberger Institute meets students where they are, o ering multiple pathways and design and arts online degrees, including a BSD in graphic design, a Master of Architecture, and a BFA in digital photography, one of the first studio practice-based online degrees from a Research 1 university or fine arts college in the nation.
We are pioneering the exploration of emerging technologies like AI, augmented reality, extended reality (XR) and immersive media, with a mission to ensure these innovations serve the public good. The Herberger Institute is building the Creative Economy HubTM, a transformational learning community with creative industry partners and those who value creativity in their workforce. This key connector between ASU and the world’s most important centers of cultural and creative industries aims to foster a deep and meaningful exchange around knowledge, human capital development and community building.
Students, faculty and researchers have access to the best facilities and equipment in the world for the future of creative jobs, including the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in Mesa, Fusion on First in Phoenix and the ASU California Center in Los Angeles, all o ering state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The design and arts district on the ASU Tempe campus features academic buildings, galleries, specialized teaching facilities, rehearsal spaces, concert halls, theatres and more.
The ASU Art Museum is reinventing the modern-day museum by centering art and artists in the pursuit of justice and equity, through socially, politically and environmentally engaged exhibitions by regional, national and international artists.
Herberger Institute students experience the world as designers and artists, with opportunities to work with expert faculty at the top of their field on real-world projects and scenarios, locally and around the world — from developing a technology to measure biodiversity in the rainforest to creating and executing a drone halftime show for 53,000 football fans
