Earn your degree in fashion or film from ASU in downtown Los Angeles.
The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at ASU operates across four cities in two states, including in downtown Los Angeles — connecting students to one of the world’s most important centers of cultural and creative industries.
The ASU California Center Broadway in downtown LA, located in the renovated historic Herald Examiner building, is custom designed for emerging technology curriculum, including a large green screen that allows for virtual reality productions.
Located in the center of the LA Fashion District, the ASU California Center Grand features design studios; a specialized library with an extensive collection of fashion, design and trend resources; the ASU FIDM Museum — LA’s only fashion museum — with over 15,000 fashion objects; technology labs; and a world-class innovative and sustainable textile collection.
Undergraduate programs
• Bachelor of Arts in Fashion,* ASU FIDM optional concentrations: apparel product development (online only), apparel technical design (online option), design, merchandising (online option)
• Bachelor of Arts in Film,* The Sidney Poitier New American Film School concentration: filmmaking practices (online option)
• Bachelor of Fine Arts in Costume Design and Technology for the Creative Industries, ASU FIDM
• Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Media Production,* The Sidney Poitier New American Film School optional concentration: screenwriting *Degree options also available in Arizona Graduate programs
• Master of Arts in Narrative and Emerging Media , a joint program between The Sidney Poitier New American Film School and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication Semester in LA
• Arizona-based film students may apply for Semester in LA, a 12-credit program in downtown Los Angeles.
