Editor’s Note: August 2026

Dearest Gentle Reader, As summer draws towards its close, there is a particular pleasure in looking back at the season while still making the most of its final, lingering moments. It is in this spirit that I welcome you to the Endof-Summer Issue of Aspire: The Lifestyle Edit. This edition brings together a wonderfully eclectic collection of stories from London, Delhi, Dubai and beyond, with discoveries spanning the UK, India, Europe and the Middle East. It reflects the many ways contemporary life is experienced today: moving effortlessly between cultures, cuisines, cities and interests, always curious about what is new while continuing to appreciate what has stood the test of time. F&B brands and hospitality feature prominently among these pages, with dining experiences that travel across continents and cultures. From progressive Indian cuisine and South Indian flavours to Japanese, Mexican, Italian and Latin American influences, these stories capture the increasingly fluid way we eat, gather and experience the world. Alongside them are journeys into hotels, cruises and destinations where design, service, heritage and a sense of place come together. There is, of course, much to discover beyond the table. This issue takes us into fashion, jewellery, beauty, wellness, interiors and technology, alongside art, architecture, history and heritage. Together, these pages reflect the breadth of interests that shape modern lifestyles, from the things we wear and collect to the spaces we inhabit, the places we travel to and the ideas that influence us. Another element I have particularly enjoyed shaping in this issue is the breadth of our roundups. From restaurants, spirits and Epicurean Delights to beauty, books, technology and children’s brands, we have expanded the lens considerably, bringing together discoveries across generations and interests. Alongside these are selections spanning hotels, wellness, fashion, gifting and much more. What makes these pages especially rewarding, however, is not simply the variety of brands, but the stories behind them. Every brand begins with an idea, and often with plenty of uncertainty, obstacles and hard work along the way. The journeys of founders and creators remind us that innovation is rarely instantaneous; it is built through persistence, imagination, craftsmanship and the courage to keep going. For me, that is where aspiration becomes meaningful, not in perfection, but in the ambition, resilience and sheer drive to create something worth putting into the world. As a London-based publication with a global outlook, we have always believed that the most compelling stories are not confined by geography. This issue reflects that beautifully, bringing together brands, ideas and experiences from different corners of the world for readers whose interests increasingly extend beyond borders. Perhaps that is what I enjoy most about putting each issue together: the unexpected connections. A restaurant can become a window into a culture; a hotel can tell a story through its architecture; a designer can reinterpret heritage for a new audience; and a beauty or wellness philosophy can change the way we think about everyday rituals. As one season gives way to the next, I hope these pages encourage you to pause, explore and perhaps discover something you did not know you were looking for. From the places worth travelling for to the brands worth knowing, these are stories chosen to accompany you into the season ahead. Yours ever observant, Richa Grover Founder & Executive Editor Freeman, Company of Communicators, UK London · Dubai · Delhi

Manthan, Mayfair

A Modern Churning of Heritage and Flavour

T

ucked away on Maddox Street in central London, Manthan offers a contemporary interpretation of Indian cuisine that celebrates both tradition and innovation. The restaurant’s name, meaning “to churn and reflect”, perfectly captures its philosophy of revisiting familiar flavours through a fresh, modern perspective. Set within an elegant townhouse, Manthan combines refined dining with an inviting atmosphere that feels relaxed rather than formal. THE VISIONARIES BEHIND THE BRAND Manthan is the second collaboration between Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai and restaurateur Abhishake Sangwan, following the success of Kutir. Having previously worked together in Mayfair, the duo returned with a concept inspired by Ghai’s culinary journey through the vibrant food cultures of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. His experience in acclaimed kitchens is reflected in a menu that balances authentic home-style cooking with refined culinary technique. “With Manthan, our vision was to create a restaurant that reflects a remarkable culinary journey while offering guests a contemporary Indian dining experience rooted in authenticity. From cherished family recipes and vibrant street food to refined regional dishes, every element of the menu tells a story. We’ve complemented the food with a creative cocktail programme and designed a warm, welcoming space centred around our statement bar, where guests can relax, share great food and enjoy the lively spirit of Mayfair. We hope every visit to Manthan feels memorable, whether it’s for a quick bite, a celebration or a leisurely evening with family and friends.” Abhishake Sangwan FLAVOURS THAT TELL A STORY The menu travels across India’s diverse culinary landscape, bringing together vibrant street food, smoky grills, comforting curries and cherished family recipes. Signature dishes sit alongside inventive sharing plates, each celebrating bold spices and balanced flavours. Every plate is thoughtfully presented, allowing colour, texture and aroma to complement the dining experience, while generous portions encourage sharing around the table. Thoughtfully curated, the menu caters to vegetarians, vegans, pescatarians and meat lovers alike, ensuring there is something to suit every palate. “Manthan is a reflection of my journey through food, from the flavours of my childhood in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to the professional kitchens I’ve had the privilege of working in around the world. The menu celebrates authentic home-style cooking, treasured family recipes, vibrant street food and refined culinary techniques. My aim has always been to create dishes that honour India’s rich culinary heritage while presenting them with a contemporary touch, offering guests a genuine taste of the memories and experiences that have shaped me as a chef.” Chef Rohit Ghai

ELEGANT SURROUNDINGS, DECADENT AMBIANCE The interiors strike a balance between sophistication and warmth. Rich textures, soft lighting and a charming central bar create an intimate yet lively setting, equally suited to a leisurely lunch, a romantic dinner or an evening celebration. Seasonal cocktails, creative mocktails and a carefully curated drinks menu complement the cuisine beautifully, while attentive, knowledgeable service ensures the experience flows effortlessly from start to finish. A LASTING IMPRESSION Manthan brings together regional Indian influences, contemporary technique and warm hospitality in a setting that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. From its thoughtfully crafted menu and generous portions to its elegant interiors and vibrant bar, every element contributes to a memorable dining experience. Celebrating the richness of Indian cuisine through a contemporary lens, Manthan has firmly established itself as one of Mayfair’s standout destinations for modern Indian dining.
