Its got to be more than changing light bulbs and recycling (though we do that too) because smaller actions don’t scratch the surface of the problem. Walter Paecpke founded Aspen Skiing Company, and reinvented Aspen, as a place where people could escape their usual lives, be exposed to new ideas, and go back into the world to help create a better society. Putting POW (Protect Our Winters) on our uniforms is an extension of that idea. POW’s mission is to engage the snowsports community in the fight against climate change. Our partnership unites our company in this effort, sparks conversations with guests and among employees, and helps drive a climate movement. We need to act now: 2014 was the hottest year on record. 2015 will be even warmer. That’s why we’ve joined a coalition of businesses to lobby for climate legislation –Businesses for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy, BICEP and fellow snowsports enthusiasts through POW. While climate is our priority, we also support hundreds of organizations working to improve our community with more than $3.4 million in cash and product annually. Our employee-run Environment Foundation, with matching contributions from Aspen Skiing Company, Aspen Community Foundation and Coca-Cola, has donated 42
