Recruitment
Recruitment There was an overwhelming turnout of freshers for the preliminary rounds of recruitment, to join the Ashwa family. The students were tested on basic aptitude, following which the selected candidates during the Personal Inteview round. The recruitment process aims to give the right set of students an opportunity to be a part of the project, hence revolves around their commitment, dedication and passion to innovate in the field of student motorsports. This was put to test during the kart event held on the 15th of October.
The kart event has been an Ashwa Tradition and through the years, a platform of ideas, hands-on experience and immense fun. The new recruits are given a task to build a basic push kart and take part in a day-long event comprising of technical as well as managerial sub events, giving them a great opportunity to bond with their team members and kick start their journey in Ashwa Racing.

BILL FORGE On the 27th of September, the team of Bill forge paid a visit to our workshop. It was a pleasure to take them through a series of on going activities, providing them with an opportunity to view the team’s efforts in designing and Fabricating the 2018 racecars. The interaction lasted for more than an hour, paving way for various discussions including their interest to engage with the team on multiple industry-institute partnering activities like industrial visit, internship, seminar & community outreach, which is precisely what the team looks forward to do, inorder to bridge the gap between academics and real life applications and challenges. We hope to continue this partnership between Ashwa Racing and Bill Forge for many more years to come.

IMPEL CARGO Impel Cargo, our official Logistics partner has been very supportive of the Ashwa Racing endeavour right from the time of association. On the 8th of September, Karthik Sir & Venkatesh Sir took time off their busy schedule to visit us at our workshop, to meet the team. It was an immense pleasure to show them around the workshop, introducing the team members and discussing about Ashwa Racing’s future goals. BFW Manufacturing Day Bharat Fritz Werner (BFW), a leading manufacturer of machine tools, partnered with Manufacturing Today magazine, to present Manufacturing Day 2017. The day-long conference was conducted with an intention to impart knowledge on today’s manufacturing ecosystem, and give participants a platform to discuss and share valuable thoughts with the eminent industry leaders on implementing digitization, skill development and innovation in the Manufacturing industry. Held on October 5 at Hotel Westin, Gurugram, the event was attended by the distinguished dignitaries and key industry personnel. Ashwa Racing members were invited to participate in this prestigious event, and were provided with an opportunity to present our organization - Ashwa Mobility Foundation and our future goals amidst world-class Industry professionals from the Manufacturing Industry. The team would like to thank BFW for providing us this wonderful opportunity to interact and network with industries, for the second time in two years.

Registered for Formula Hybrid
After months of relentless efforts, we've finally officially registered for the Formula Hybrid event. This has certainly got the team's adrenaline pumping. Having registered now, the document submissions have begun, and we're all excited to start gaining points. Formula Hybrid has definitely kept us on our toes so far, and will continue to for the next six months. We love the pressure! Electric cars are not going to take the market by storm, but it’s going to be a gradual improvement. The end of the age of the internal combustion engine is in sight. There are small signs everywhere: the shift to hybrid vehicles is already under way among manufacturers. Under the Paris Agreement at the UN Climate Conference earlier in May 2017, India declared that only electric cars will be on sale in 2030. In light of this, there is a conspicuous push by the government to move away from fossil fuels and to embrace electric technology. Hybrid technology uses two sources. An ICE comes in handy when the battery runs out of juice. Given the alarming depletion of fossil fuels is a conundrum of global dimensions, the need of the hour is a drastic minimisation of carbon footprint-the end of the road for fossil fuel powered engines.

-Carlos Ghosn Purely electric powertrains gain their place as the next milestone in Ashwa's automotive peregrinations - an exciting and noble pursuit that is greener, and loaded with modern technology. As a precursor to the FS Electric event in 2019, that the team aims to take part in, we look forward to participate in the Formula Bharat Electric Concept Challenge in the month of January 2018. Objectives of the event: 1. Provide a platform for Indian teams to build Electric. 2. Mentoring and guidance on aspects of designing and manufacturing with a lead time of 15 months to build a full fledged prototype that can compete on a global scale.

ALUMNUS OF THE MONTH Mohammad Hannan Chisti, the Project Manager of the first hybrid team of Ashwa Racing which fabricated the RZX5H in the year 2015 is well known for his passion towards racing and his dedication towards the project throughout his tenure. His contribution towards the team's progress made everyone realise the importance of the post of the Project Manager in Ashwa's endeavour. Hannan is known for his outstanding technical, managerial as well as interpersonal skills. In his 4 years at Ashwa Racing, he has been a part of 6 prototype construction efforts and has participated in 4 national and international Formula SAE competitions. His role varied from macro responsibilities like delegation and management of operations like designing, manufacturing, finance and sponsorship efforts to detailed aspects, displaying enormous endurance and resourcefulness His consistency in work and character inspired his team to an outstanding 7th place finish which made Ashwa the highest ranked student hybrid racing team in India. Hannan never hesitated to take up tedious jobs and was at the forefront to take greater responsibility. His ability to negotiate and improvise on the situations have served Ashwa splendidly in building prototype racecars and competing in global competitions. He is a part of the Alumni Council to mentor the team in its Finance operations and his involvement in Finance has greatly made the operations more convenient for the present teams. He was also appointed as the Judge for the Cost Event in Formula Bharat 2017, held in Coimbatore in January 2017. He was, is and will always be one of the most fondly remembered member of Ashwa for his role in getting Ashwa on the progress ladder. There is certainly no substitute for the dedication which he possesses. Thank you Hannan for inspiring us and helping us move ahead year after year.
