As a seedstock breeder, your mind is always focused on the future. As we close in on our Fall 2026 Sale, we’re also wrapping up the spring breeding season. Shifting your mindset from the excitement, research, and planning that goes into the 2028 sale season back to the present is always one of the biggest challenges at this time of year.
Even so, I’m confident that the bulls and females we’ll offer on September 24 and 25 represent the deepest, most uniform, and most docile set NextGen has ever brought to town. You can walk through the pens, scratch a few heads, and find yourself getting excited over exceptional individual after exceptional individual.
Then you look just up the hill. The fall yearlings destined for next spring are another step ahead. The spring calves are hitting another gear. The calves due this fall represent another leap forward, and the 350 embryos we’ve implanted over the past 30 days are simply out of this world. I couldn’t be more excited about the direction we’re headed and what the future holds—not only for NextGen, but for you, our customers, and ultimately your customers throughout the beef supply chain. If you have the time while you’re here, we’d love to take you on a tour of the ranch and give you a glimpse of the future of NextGen.
While we’re excited about what’s ahead, here’s a preview of what you’ll find this Fall...
This fall marks the true coming-out party for NG Firestone 1840K13 and DH Olympus 175.
Firestone was the $82,500 feature of the 2025 STBBA Futurity in Houston, and his first son to sell this spring became the second highselling Beefmaster bull, purchased by Gonzalitos Beefmasters. This fall, we’ll offer eight Firestone sons, including two homozygous polled sons out of NG Northern Lights. Also highlighting the Diamonds of the Flint Hills female offering is a Firestone daughter from the great Destiny donor. Olympus also made an immediate impact by siring the top-selling Beefmaster bull this spring, purchased by the partnership of O’Farrell and Headings Beefmasters. His influence continues this fall with 10 sons featured in the offering.

The Black Beefmaster division is headlined by the sons of NG Leonidas 1849K7, particularly the outstanding flush from NG Flawless Diamond, our homozygous polled young donor with an IMF ratio of 108.

Seedstock producers searching for their next herd sire should pay close attention to the pair of sons from NG Crown Jewel, the black full sibling to NG Red Queen, the topselling female in our Spring Diamonds Sale.

2046N, a red, homozygous polled son of CF Polled Playboy, posts impressive performance ratios of 112 for weaning, 119 for yearling, and 124 for ribeye. He ranks in the top 1% of the breed for WW, YW, SC, and $T, top 2% for RE, and top 5% for $M.
N352, a homozygous black, homozygous polled son of NG Black Rock 509H54, combines top 20% CED with elite growth, ranking in the top 1% for WW, YW, and $T, along with the top 2% for TM, SC, and $M.

Our Charolais bulls are as big, stout, and powerful as ever, with exceptional quality from front to back.
The offering is led by LT Badge 9184 and his sons NG Maverick 2184J and NG Badge 102J, combining for 18 sons in the sale. Badge is now entering his sixth year of breeding two seasons annually and remains one of the most impressive herd sires of any breed.
LT Atlas 0251, sire of the high-selling bull from our Spring 2026 Bull Sale, NG Compass N040, purchased by Rafter L Ranch, is represented by 16 sons this fall.
One of the featured sire groups will be by the $150,000 LT Global 3322. The flush from our foundation donor Duchess Y601 includes three of the top bulls in the offering, led by 2038N, who is making a strong case to start the sale. Another standout is the son of Fink Lady 0246 7549 FL, currently the highest-marbling Global son in the breed.
We’re also excited to offer three bulls from our Reserve Champion Pen of Five at the National Western Stock Show, including the lead-off bull NG Intense N086. Sired by our resident herd sire SVY Profound and out of one of our newest donors, WR Icon J661, Intense combines proven genetics from both sides. J661 has produced the lead-off bull at the National Western for the past two years and already has another outstanding bull calf at her side.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU TO PAXICO ON SEPTEMBER 24-25. CATALOGS WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLINE AROUND AUGUST 25, WITH VIDEOS AND PRINTED CATALOGS TO FOLLOW SHORTLY THEREAFTER.

Our partnership with ABS Global’s NuERA program continues to gain momentum as calves sired by AngusX bulls consistently top markets across the country. This fall, we’ll offer 95 high-performance, terminal, homozygous black AngusX bulls, including every AngusX bull we have developed— none have been held back.

Patterson Land & Cattle is located in Howell County Missouri in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks. The county is on the Missouri/Arkansas border located in the center of the state. While the topography includes deeply carved river valleys, rolling hills and flat upland divides, several counties to the East begins the ultra productive and flat Mississippi River Valley.
Howell County was established in 1857 and claims West Plains as its county seat. Mountain View, the hometown of Patterson Land & Cattle, is known for its close proximity to the Mark Twain National Forest, an abundance of spring fed rivers and creeks and tranquil small town life. Timber harvesting and wood are a big deal for the local and regional economy.
Keith Patterson is the principal behind Patterson Land & Cattle. Keith’s father started milking cows and expanded into the hardwood timber business. Keith started raising beef cattle and buying land in the early 1990’s but has remained very active in the hardwood timber business. Their timber enterprises consist of timber land management, timber harvesting and hauling, timber processing through their family owned sawmill along with value added products such as railroad ties, lumber, furniture and hardwood flooring. It is truly a vertically integrated business that goes from farm to retail.
Keith and a hired hand manage day to day operations on the ranches with help from his wife Tammie who will check cows and assist vaccinating cows and calves. All of the ground they ranch is owned. Patterson Land & Cattle purchase all replacement females, mainly 4 and 5 year old cows. They run a straight TERMINAL cattle operation, no replacements kept. The cow herd is approximately 90% black and 10% red. Keith is constantly looking for ways to manage replacement cow costs with the market at all time highs. All bulls used come from NextGen Cattle Company and are all AngusX.
WHEN I CHOSE A SEEDSTOCK SUPPLIER, I CHOSE NEXTGEN CATTLE COMPANY BECAUSE I WANTED A WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH A BULL SUPPLIER AND CATTLE FEEDER. THEY RAISE THE BULLS RIGHT AND THEY BACK THE BULLS UP. THEY SUPPLY US WITH THE KIND OF BULLS WE NEED AND IF WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A BULL THEY ARE THERE TO FIX IT WITHOUT ANY QUESTIONS. NEXTGEN CATTLE COMPANY IS MORE THAN WILLING TO BID ON OUR CALVES. SOMETIMES THEY GET THEM BOUGHT AND SOMETIMES THEY DON’T. IF THEY DON’T GET THEM BOUGHT THEY WILL MAKE SOMEONE ELSE PAY MORE MONEY FOR THEM. I APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT WE HAVE A PARTNER IN THE CATTLE BUSINESS THAT SUPPORTS US RANCHERS LIKE WE SUPPORT THEIR BULL SALE AND CATTLE FEEDING BUSINESS.”

Calves are weaned 90-120 days in a dry lot situation with free choice dry hay, free choice mineral and ration. The ration is comprised of cracked corn, corn gluten pellets, DDG and soyhull pellets. Their free choice mineral is manufactured by a local company and it includes garlic, kelp and IGR for fly control. These products along with grazing management have almost eliminated eye issues in the cows and calves. One of the unique things Keith does while grazing fescue and orchard grass is aggressively stock pastures and flash graze the seed heads off, while still leaving leaf growth behind for later grazing. Less than 1% of cattle have to be treated for eye issues using this strategy. Keith is a firm believer in aggressive rotational grazing.
OWNER, PATTERSON LAND & CATTLE

All hay is put up dry, no haylage is utilized. Cows and calves have access to liquid feed from December through the end of March. Free choice mineral is always available. Keith is confident that allowing the calves access to liquid feed while on the cow greatly helps getting the calves started on feed during the weaning process. It typically takes less than 2 days for the calves to come to the bunks and start on feed.
Feeder calves are marketed in multiple different ways depending on economic signals. Sometimes calves are sold directly to NextGen Cattle Company, sold at West Plains at Ozark Regional Stockyards or fed all the way through to finish and traded as fats. Marketing decisions are based upon current markets and cash flow needs.
Patterson Land & Cattle runs a solid ranching operation in a beautiful part of the country. NextGen Cattle Company is proud to be a supplier of bulls and a procurer of feeder cattle from Keith and Tammie Patterson.

DAVID HOLLOWAY CHIEF RISK OFFICER
The first half of 2026 brought record high prices for all classes of cattle. The next thought is how long can this market last? In short, for a while – with some important risks noted. Supply is tight and demand is strong – those are the key factors that drove prices to record levels. These same conditions still exist, and I see no change in the foreseeable future.
The US calf crop remains small, and heifer retention could gain speed given the ample moisture some areas have gotten. That keeps the supply side (measured in headcount, not pounds) snug for a while yet to come. Yes, carcass weights are record but that’s only a partial offset to lower headcounts.
Demand has been stout and shows no signs of slowing. Consumers are paying record high prices for beef, and record retail margins reflect that. Economic conditions are solid and that’s a demand tailwind.
Important downside risks are noted. Beef imports are booming, and given the US premium over world prices we are a magnet to bring more beef in. Packing plant closures have occurred due to the persistent negative margin situation, and with no end in sight the risk of more dark plants is increasing. Both factors have the potential to change the direction of the market.
On balance, the cattle market has a solid foundation to remain strong for some time. Prices have seen a blistering increase and a setback would be normal, and arguably healthy longer term. As always there are noted risks but those are manageable.
