Canteen news

Welcome to Term 2
As we head into Term 2, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for the vital role you play in supporting sustainable, well‑run school canteens across Australia. Whether you’re managing daily operations or catering at scale, your choices matter — not just for your school community, but for the wider education sector as well.
This term, we’re pleased to welcome Meris as a new ASCA canteen equipment supplier, expanding the range of trusted options available to members.
It’s also a timely reminder to make sure you’re getting the most out of your free ASCA membership. Membership is about far more than competitive pricing — it includes rewards points, calendar and newsletter specials, event invitations, ASCAplus access for personal purchases, and our surplus funds supporting charities that assist in educating vulnerable children. You should be so proud of this.

Simply buying through ASCA’s approved suppliers helps strengthen your school’s impact, while also giving you access to ASCA Area Managers for practical support, advice and industry insight. If you’re ever unsure which products or suppliers are available to you, head to our website and visit “My Distributor” for a clear, up‑to‑date list.

Celebrate Canteen Week is a great opportunity for schools to pause and recognise the important contribution their canteen makes to the wider school community. From supporting student wellbeing and healthy food choices, to creating welcoming spaces and contributing to school culture, canteens play a far bigger role than many people realise. We encourage schools to take this opportunity to acknowledge their canteen managers, caterers and teams — please talk to your Principal about this. We have free recognition certificates available to download on our website.
Celebrate Canteen Week is about recognising the people behind the counter, the care that goes into daily operations, and the positive role canteens play in supporting students every day.
