Position Summary:
The Middle School Associate Principal at ASB plays a critical leadership role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of learners during this pivotal stage of their educational journeys. In collaboration with the Middle & High School Principal and middle school leaders, the Middle School Associate Principal is central to ensuring that the teaching and learning program, co-curricular offerings, and community building experiences promote a positive school culture and ethos of belonging An effective Middle School Associate Principal at ASB is a student-centered leader who understands the unique needs of early adolescents and is passionate about providing learning experiences that invite curiosity, self-discovery, and exploration for students in Grades 6-8.
The Middle School Associate Principal is a relationship builder, connecting students, educators, families, and the wider ASB community In alignment with ASB’s mission and vision, they are committed to creating a dynamic, collaborative, and learner-centered environment Responsibilities include supervising educators, facilitating professional learning experiences, monitoring and addressing student behavior and attendance, and ensuring the implementation of systems and procedures In addition, the Middle School Associate Principal plays a key role in campus safety planning, scheduling and timetabling, data generation and analysis, and the support of multidisciplinary intervention strategies for learners.
This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a deep commitment to educational excellence and student success for students across grades 6 to 8 As well, the successful candidate will actively engage in and contribute to schoolwide initiatives and priorities, making themselves flexible and available to support divisional and whole school programming outside of the school day
Your Responsibilities at ASB:
Instructional Engagement
● Contribute to the development of the written, taught, and assessed curriculum in collaboration with the principal, curriculum leaders, and educators
● Help develop systems and structures that facilitate the delivery of a high-quality program across Grades 6-8

Student Engagement
● Collaborate with the Elementary School Associate Principal to support student transitions from Grade 5 to 6, and with the High School Associate Principal to support student transitions from Grade 8 to 9.
● Support the work of the student support services teams in meeting the needs of all learners, including participation on multidisciplinary teams.
● Support the Athletics, Activities, and Community and Social Responsibility (CSR) and other co-curricular programs in delivering on their respective objectives and outcomes.
Educator Engagement
● Facilitate the professional development of educators through divisional meetings, in-service training, and grade-level meetings.
● Participate in the evaluation and appraisal of educators
Parent Engagement
● Build partnerships with parents and caregivers, both formally and informally
● Ensure clear and ongoing communication to families about curricular, co-curricular, and pastoral programs

● A commitment to the development and use of systems, structures, and protocols in support of alignment across the high school

Who Are We Looking For?
The ideal candidate will bring:
● A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program, with a teaching credential
● Coursework and or experience in Educational Leadership
● A minimum of five years of experience in a K-12 accredited school, including leadership experience
● Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and pedagogy for middle school learners.
● Deep knowledge of the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of early adolescents, with the ability to design developmentally responsive programs.
● Expertise in positive behavior systems and strategies that foster a safe and inclusive school culture.
● A keen sensitivity to cultural diversity and differences.
