The American School of Bombay (ASB) seeks an innovative and collaborative Middle and High School French and Spanish Teacher to join its international community of educators The teacher will deliver engaging, language instruction that supports students’ linguistic proficiency, cultural understanding, and global citizenship The role includes teaching French and Spanish across Middle School and High School, including the IB Diploma Programme It emphasizes communicative competence, intercultural awareness, and student-centered learning within an inclusive environment

Your Responsibilities at ASB:

Teaching and Learning:

● Deliver engaging, standards aligned instruction in French and Spanish across Middle and High School, including IB Diploma Programme courses

● Model fluent and accurate language use in speaking, listening, reading, and writing

● Design authentic project-based learning experiences that connect language learning to real world and global contexts

● Differentiate instruction to support varied language proficiency levels and learner needs

● Integrate cultural perspectives, history, and contemporary issues from French and Spanish speaking communities

● Use technology and digital tools to enhance language acquisition, engagement, and communication

● Assess student progress using formative and summative methods and provide timely, constructive feedback

● Adapt instruction to support adolescents’ cognitive and social-emotional development

Curriculum and Planning

● Design and document curriculum aligned with IB Language Acquisition frameworks and ASB expectations.

● Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels.

● Integrate interdisciplinary connections where they meaningfully support language learning.

● Maintain accurate curriculum documentation using school-supported platforms.

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

● Actively engage in continuous professional learning, coaching, and reflection, modeling professionalism, academic integrity, and ethical conduct

● Collaborate with colleagues to share and refine best practices that enhance student outcomes.

● Participate in departmental, divisional, and school-wide meetings to support shared goals.

● Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative instructional strategies and approaches.

● Document curriculum and resources using shared collaborative tools in school-approved platforms.

Student Wellbeing:

● Lead a grade level advisory group that supports students’ social-emotional well-being and growth.

● Supervise and engage with students during transitions, breaks, and lunch to maintain a safe, caring, and respectful environment

● Support students’ social-emotional wellbeing and foster a caring, inclusive environment.

● Chaperone students on experiential learning trips, including ASB’s Week Without Walls program, fostering responsibility and connection beyond the classroom

● Lead or support co-curricular activities that enhance student learning and community engagement.

Who We’re Looking For? The ideal candidate will bring:

● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a valid teaching certification.

● Demonstrated fluency in French and Spanish as a reader, writer, speaker, and listener.

● A minimum of three years of teaching experience in a K-12 accredited school.
