Bahar Heidarzade was born in Iran, where freedom for women comes at a price. Heidarzade was forced to abandon her country and would be imprisoned if she returned. The exhibition is an ongoing part of the artist’s research on the burden of remembering, represented symbolically with stones. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a large immersive installation that Bahar Heidarzade has created in the Sala Labia. A video projected on the floor in the centre of the room will show the artist lying down, crushed under the weight of an enormous boulder. Women know better than any how to assume the pain of others. And women are too often the victims of violence. Dozens of stones will be suspended in space above Heidarzade’s body.
