Ripples: On Identity & Community Emerging Artists Residency Annual Spring Retrospective 526 W 26th Street, Studio 207, New York, NY 10001 April 30 - May 8, 2026
ARTIST 01 Perla Sosa Perla Sosa, also known as Carla Diz, is a 21-year-old stylist, creative director, and essayist originating from New York. She is currently pursuing a B.A. Degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations, and a minor in Business Administration. With an interest in Latin American media and markets, she hopes to contribute to the promising growth of her home country, the Dominican Republic. After graduating, she plans to use her experience with image curation to grow the artistic presence of the emerging artists from her country. She also hopes to use her degrees in administration and finance to invest in a tourism project in the DR. For now, however, Sosa is focused on growing as a person. Having dealt with anxiety and low self-esteem throughout her life, she uses art as a way to uncover the differences between the disorder she has grown up with and her true self. Although she’s made it clear that she is her own intended audience, she does hope to reach those who, like herself, have been scarred by mental illness; Those who have not gotten the chance to meet the version of themselves who are not surviving but are simply free.
