Tony Forrest
Tony Forrest is renowned for richly textured oil paintings inspired by the wildlife of Africa and India. Influenced by David Shepherd, Forrest has travelled extensively on safari, using his own field photography to capture animals in their natural habitats.
Ben Waddams
Ben Waddams is a British wildlife artist whose travels through America and Africa have inspired his work. Working primarily in oils and through careful observation of animals in their natural habitats, Waddams’ paintings offer an intimate window into the natural world.
Ignacio Trelis
Ignacio Trelis is a Spanish contemporary artist whose extensive travels have inspired his portraiture. Drawing on the distinctive dress, customs and traditions encountered in communities globally, Trelis’ tribal works offer a compelling celebration of cultural identity.
Tobias Martin
Inspired by the British countryside, Martin creates beautifully observed wildlife sculptures that capture both the physical likeness and distinctive character of his subjects. Working predominantly in bronze, his sensitive modelling, intricate detail and varied patination convey texture, movement and personality, resulting in sculptures that feel remarkably lifelike. 3

“This painting depicts Maya, one of the best known tigers in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, just south of Nagpur in central India. Maya is a tigress known locally as the Queen of Tadoba, as she is such a beautiful creature. The scene itself has every ingredient that attracts me as an artist: warm light, beautiful reflections, stunning colours and is just an incredible spectacle in its own right. Wild tigers in India are never the easiest animal to find and so the excitement of seeing them is somewhat heightened when compared to seeing cats in Africa. They are still hunted and I feel privileged to have seen them myself in their natural habitat.”

This group were just on a small piece of dry sand below the river bank, bathed with warm sunlight. The oxpeckers (small birds) always add interest and can often be seen taking tics and insects from the bodies of many game, including giraffe and buffalo.”

While the cats are always worth seeking out, I love to paint buffalo just as much. From a painting perspective, they provide excellent subject matter with their giant horns and muddied bodies. These two were from a herd that we came across near the territory of the Ridge Pride of lions, and this herd were actually chasing and threatening the lions. We were surrounded on both sides by the big cats and buffalos, all at once! I was down in the safety of a shallow ditch, looking up from the Land Cruiser, which offered a powerful viewpoint of these creatures.”

Their presence in my paintings is so important, but equally so is the composition and the lighting. There is so much to see here, leopards, cheetahs, lions- but if the lighting does not feel right, I find it hard to feel happy, no matter how impressive the subject is. However, here, the combination of spots and lighting mixed to create the perfect composition. The way the dappled light fell perfectly onto Bahati’s back and those piercing green eyes- I felt as though she was staring right into y soul. She is

Tony Forrest ‘The Legend Bahati’ - Oil on Canvas 18” x 32” - Signed - £8,450 “The leopard featured in this painting is well known in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Her name is Bahati, meaning luck in Swahili, and I certainly feel lucky to have seen her. She is one of the region’s most successful mothers and she even starred in the BBC Big Cat diary TV Series! Many of the other leopards in the park are her direct relatives and they are just as gorgeous. I have caught glimpses of this celebrity several times, very close to the camp we were staying at in fact. All the cats in Africa are essential to my artwork- I have been painting them for many years and I especially enjoy painting dappled light, so when this scene appeared, I was truly in my element.“
