WELCOME Welcome to the Jenningsbet Midlands Grand National Raceday and a particularly warm welcome and thank you to our sponsors Jenningsbet.

We have £327,200 of prizemoney up for grabs today across our 7 racecard with the big race offering a £160,000 purse. This year’s big race looks like a competitive affair featuring some of the finest long-distance chasers in the country. Renowned for its demanding course and stamina testing distance, past competitors have gone on to win other prestigious events such as Aintree Grand National and the Cheltenham Gold Cup. We have some great entertainment planned for our racegoers today. Back Chat Brass will be roaming the crowds prior to racing, and you can head over to the Rugby Marquee in the Center Course where we will have live music from Irish band, Radio Murphy. You can also enjoy the screening of the scheduled Six Nations Super Saturday matches on our giant screen. Don’t rush home after racing as the entertainment will continue with the Six Nations coverage moving to the Premier Bar and Radio Murphy will be entertaining us in the Betting Hall bar. Bob Champion will be walking around site doing a meet and greet to help raise funds for our fantastic charity partner for the day, Burton Albion Community Trust. Bob won the 1981 Grand National whilst riding Adalanti to victory with the pair of them winning the team of the year, sports personality award later that year for their success. The popularity of this fixture has continued to grow and yet again the ticket sales have been excellent with Premier tickets and all hospitality sold out. Thank you all for attending and helping make this day such a special occasion for all at the racecourse and the town of Uttoxeter. A PERFECT DAY held every chance before a bad mistake at the second-last took the wind out of his sails at Chepstow. THE DAY OF ALL DAYS SINCE 1969 The Jenningsbet Midlands Grand National is back for another year and we’re all set for another quality renewal. With an increased prize fund of £160,000 for our feature race of the day, this has resulted in a race jam packed with classy staying chasers from across the country. The race is run over four miles and two furlongs, making it the second longest race in the National Hunt calendar after the Aintree Grand National. The first running of the Jenningsbet Midlands Grand National took place in 1969 when veteran 13yo Happy Spring landed the race for jockey Ken White. His record as the oldest horse to have won the race will likely never be beaten. David Pipe still holds the record as being the most successful trainer in the history of this race after he won four consecutive renewals of the race courtesy of Minella Four Star (2011), Master Overseer (2012), Big Occasion (2013) and Goulanes (2014).

The Jenningsbet Midlands Grand National has a history of being won by some smart horses in the past, notably Cheltenham Gold Cup winners The Thinker (1987) and Synchronised (2010) who both took this prestigious handicap on their way to winning jump racing’s blue riband event. In 1975, Rag Trade won the event before subsequently going on to land the biggest race of them all, the Grand National, just a year later. Astonishingly, in its 56 year history, despite many trying there has never been a dual winner of the race. The Irish have a fantastic record in the event having won it six times since 2000 with the likes of Goonjella (2015) and Screaming Colours (2022). This year's race has 17 declared runners with key features including J'Arrive De L'Est, Aworkinprogress, and Deafening Silence. Who will write their name into the history books in the 2026 Jenningsbet Midlands Grand National?
