WELCOME
Flat Season Finale – September 8th 2025
A warm welcome to everyone to Royal Windsor Racecourse for tonight’s Flat Season Finale which signifies the end of a 22 raceday Flat season that started back in late April and has literally flown by! On a personal level, it has been my first Windsor summer of racing and it’s been a truly wonderful experience. There have definitely been plenty of challenges along the way, and we haven’t always got everything right, but hopefully the positives have outweighed the negatives and with a number of new team members joining the organization this year, we feel we are in a good place as we start planning for the 2026 season.
As our Flat season comes to an end, on the track the stand-out jockey has once again been Oisin Murphy who has dominated proceedings all season and will be defending his Windsor jockey title, currently with 20 wins under his belt, ahead of the 18 he picked up last year The trainers title is a much closer affair with William Haggis and Tony Carroll neck and neck with 8 wins apiece, one ahead of Richard Hannon and two ahead of several others, including last year’s winner’s John Gosden, so there is everything to play for on this final day.
For those who attended last week, it was great to see the Royal Windsor Racing Syndicate’s first horse in partnership with Old Gold Racing, The Wicked Wolf, running his first ever race With torrential rain at various times of the evening, the softer conditions were definitely unfamiliar to ‘Wolfie’, but he ran more or less as trainer Jamie Osborne expected him to run, there was certainly no disgrace in finishing 8th out of the 10 runners and he will undoubtedly be better for the experience in his next run, hopefully later this month.
Whilst the Flat season concludes today, fortunately the wait for the next raceday at Royal Windsor isn’t as long as previous years, as Jumps racing starts up again on Sunday 23rd November and tickets and hospitality packages are on sale on our website. Please also put New Year’s Day in your diary as Jumps racing returns here after a gap of nearly 30 years – we are incredibly excited about this new fixture, so make sure Windsor is top of your list to kickstart your 2026!
In the meantime, have an enjoyable afternoon and best of luck!

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating

Cases can be made for several of these, with DASHING DICK earning the vote He was below par last time, but prior to that had posted a couple of good efforts in defeat and this 7-y-o, who is versatile ground-wise, has edged down to a handy mark. If LAW OF DESIGN goes to post he could be the answer having finished a solid third off this mark at Ascot on Friday, in the process shaping as though this drop back in trip would work in his favour. Eminency has found just one too good on two of his last three starts and he looks set for another leading role Serenity Dream is also considered, along withWhenthedealinsdone, who was in fine fettle on the all-weather earlier this year and conditions shouldn’t be an issue (has won on good to soft).

RACE SUMMARY
A competitive event with proven performers up against some relatively unexposed youngsters. JEEWAN has danced every dance this term and despite top weight, he’s the narrow pick to double up here. Paramer Angel looks to have been kept fresh for this and if he clicks with his rider, has ideal conditions and could roll back the years, like he did last year. The younger, James Owen trained fillies are both on the comeback trail, Zizania Du Mazet looked a little unlucky a Brighton and she could improve past Hibikinada Du Mazet, back up in trip. The three year old debutant AJS Al Rayyan faces a big task, but his stable is in form and can get one ready, so market moves to be noted.
