WELCOME Welcome everyone today to Royal Windsor Racecourse for our Party in the Paddock Racenight, which also happens to be our final Monday Night Racing fixture of the 2026 season. Hard to believe that nearly 4 months of Monday nights have flown by so quickly, it’s certainly been a memorable summer with four of our fixtures coinciding with heat waves with temperatures in the mid 30s! Thankfully we still have a few Flat fixtures left after today, starting with this Saturday’s Summer Closing Party which is now shaping up to be the highlight of the summer at Windsor. Many of you will know that for the past few weeks, superstar horse Constitution Hill has been earmarked to potentially run here in the August Stakes on Saturday providing that the track conditions were suitable with some give in the ground. Whilst there hasn’t been an abundance of rain just yet, watering has been on-going and there does appear to be more rain on the way this week. We have received encouraging feedback from trainer Nicky Henderson’s yard following a recent visit to the racecourse, to the extent that we are now much more confident that Constitution Hill will be running here on Saturday. This will be a truly wonderful occasion for Royal Windsor Racecourse and an experience not to be missed. Turning back to today, following the racing we are excited that local favourite Matthew Allman will be performing in the marquee on the Paddock Lawn to keep the party going. Matthew has been a feature on Lavender Lawn at many of our racenights throughout the summer, never failing to get everyone up and dancing, so it promises to be a lively end to the evening and well worth staying around for. OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. 5
