Admission Although everyone is welcome at Lingfield Park, we do reserve the right, in extreme circumstances, either to refuse admission or to eject any person from the racecourse. Lingfield Park will not tolerate the use of illegal substances.
Badges & Transfers Policy If badges or tickets are lost they will unfortunately not be replaced. Lingfield Park operates a NO RE-ADMITTANCE policy within the racecourse. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Cash Machines There are no cash machines on site. All catering and bars accept debit or credit card payments only. The tote, along with bookmakers do accept cash payment and some may also accept debit card payments (no credit cards).
Disabled Visitors We now have wheelchairs available for loan on a raceday - advance bookings only. For further information and to book, please contact the Racecourse Office on 01342 834800.
Dogs Dogs are not allowed on site during a race day, unless they are an official guide dog.
Horse & Jockey Welfare at Lingfield Park Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider. Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface. On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture
to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital. It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. Horserace Betting Levy Board
The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £852,842 in ratecard and incremental prize money at this racecourse from 1st January to 22nd March 2024.

Racegoers may take photographs for private use from within the enclosures. Flash photography is not permitted at any time. Press and commercial photographers may pre-arrange the necessary permission with the Racing Office at least 7 days before the race meeting. Press and official Photographer’s attention is drawn to the current BHA Instructions. Under no circumstance is any type of video recording allowed on course.

In the interests of public safety all visitors to the racecourse must follow the direction of the Safety Stewards on the Stands and the Raceday Staff throughout the racecourse. Please do not leave bags or your possessions unattended at any time as this could cause a security alert. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL GLASSES BE ALLOWED ONTO THE GRANDSTANDS, VIEWING AREAS IN FRONT OF GRANDSTANDS OR AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE PARADE RING. RACEGOERS DISREGARDING THE REGULATION OR BEHAVING IN A DISORDERLY MANNER WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE RACECOURSE.

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. claims HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but HIIII Can be given little or no chance. at least one or two hold stronger
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
WHERE TO BET There are a variety of places to bet at the course; The Tote has selling points throughout the racecourse - easily identified by the Tote Betting or totepool signs. The bookmakers are located in front of the grandstand in the ‘Betting Ring’. The bookmakers display their odds for each race and compete to offer the best price to customers. These are fixed price bets and the amount of your winnings will be printed on your betting slip. Search around to get the best price for your selection. Minimum Stakes The Tote has a minimum bet of £2. The bookmakers vary but if they have a minimum it will be shown on the boards displaying their odds. If in doubt – just ask.

Raceday preview from Weatherbys It is a real pleasure to be sponsoring two races across the card this afternoon at Lingfield, including the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Handicap Chase, a Class 4 event staged over twoand-a-half miles. A field of seven go to post and the weights are headed by Casa Loupi for Gary Moore. He was an impressive juvenile hurdler back in 2021, twice a winner and also runner-up in the Grade 2 Adonis but he is now winless in almost three years. His mark has continued to slide but he will have to improve on what he has shown in three starts so far this term to capitalise on that mark on chase debut. Tea And Chats looked in need of the run when a little outpaced on season reappearance at
Sherborne notched a quickfire double over hurdles back in May. Fontwell but was disappointing last time on handicap debut at Lingfield. He has been dropped 3lbs for that effort though and takes a drop back in class for his debut over fences. Sherborne notched a quickfire double over hurdles back in May for Joe Tizzard, recording impressive victories at Ffos Las and Newton Abbot. The eightyear-old shed his maiden tag over fences on his penultimate start at Wincanton but put in a below par effort when pulled up at Exeter last time, perhaps not seeing out the extended three-mile trip. Kingofthewest was back in third that day at Wincanton and has almost eight lengths to make up on the reopposing rival but did lose a shoe on that occasion, and is now 4lbs better off at the weights. David Pipe’s eight-yearold stayed on well to win a handicap chase on heavy ground at Chepstow last time and, once rated as high as 120 over hurdles, could be well-handicapped from a mark of 106 here. Grizzly James was a good third at Plumpton when last seen, form that has been boosted with the runner-up winning since and he arrives here on an unchanged mark. He will handle the underfoot conditions and must have solid claims here for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch. Clonakilty weakened quickly on chase debut at Huntingdon but looked to have benefitted from wind surgery when a staying-on third at Leicester time. He appeared a little outpaced at times over the minimum trip, and this step up in trip looks sure to suit. Ben Pauling’s Couldbeaweapon should also improve for the step up in trip here and did run well over this sort of distance over hurdles. The seven-year-old has plenty of scope for improvement over fences with just the one completed start and

has been dropped 3lbs for an encouraging third at Taunton last time. The closing race on the card is the Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Conditional Jockeys’ Training Series Handicap Hurdle, and the weights are headed by Just Over Land. Sam Thomas’ five-year-old chased home a progressive Nicky Martin horse when third on seasonal debut over this trip but perhaps didn’t stay the extra distance when a weakening fourth up in trip at the same track last time. The son of No Risk At All has been given a break and undergone wind surgery since, and could prove better than a mark of 100, with the talented Freddie Gingell in the saddle. Uncle Arthur was 20 lengths behind that rival at Chepstow back in October but improved to land a claiming hurdle at Ludlow before the turn of the year. The six-year-old has since changed in hands and is now trained by James Owen, looking to get back on track following a fall at Musselburgh last time. There doesn’t appear to be too much pace on, and Harry Atkins could be allowed to dictate matters out in front aboard Goguenard. The progressive eight-yearold has won his last two starts in determined fashion and chases the hattrick here in the space of less than three weeks. This requires more up a further 8lbs in the handicap though, and the drop back in trip is not certain suit. Gary Moore landed this contest in 2022 and has Tara Iti lining up here, with Aidan Weaver taking off 10lbs in the saddle. A four-time winner over hurdles, the six-year-old has been pretty disappointing since returning from a short break in October but has now dropped down to 2lbs below his last winning mark. Atreides is yet to shed his maiden tag over hurdles but posted an encouraging third in a similar contest at Uttoxeter last time. Neil Mulholland’s six-year-old has been dropped a pound for that effort and should be competitive here if able to settle. My Friend Sean has been well beaten on all three starts in maiden and novice company this term and should benefit from a more positive ride on handicap debut. It is hard to know if an opening mark of 83 is fair, but Tom Lacey is in fine form at present, and he is an interesting contender. The sole mare in the field is Dazzling Dove, who is yet to record a victory in 13 starts over hurdles. Her mark has continued to slide this term and whilst she ran a good third over course and distance here on stable debut for Billy Aprahamian, she has been well beaten by a couple of reopposing rivals already. Activist underwent wind surgery over the summer but didn’t appear to stay two-and-a-half miles on handicap debut at Uttoxeter back in August. This drop back in trip should see him to better effect on the back of a break, but he will have to improve on his jumping to be competitive here.
