IMPHAL hasn’t looked back since moving up in trip and the manner of his recent Huntingdon success would suggest that the four-timer beckons here, for all that he has more on his plate under a penalty in this tougher race. Thirtyfourstitches is 4lb ‘well-in’ following his solid effort at Ascot last week and he is clear next best ahead of Manintheshadows and Freethinker. 1-2-3: 1.IMPHAL 2.THIRTYFOURSTITCHES (IRE) 3.MANINTHESHADOWS (IRE) KEY colours

THE DOCKER HUGHES MEMORIAL HANDICAP CHASE As a tribute to the late Martyn Hughes we’d like to add a brief history of this race run in his memory. Today marks the 30th running of ‘The Docker Hughes Memorial Plate’. For the first twenty years we enjoyed the marvellous hospitality of Fontwell Park and became that course’s longest running race sponsor. Time for a change and we upped sticks to nearby Goodwood for a 2yo maiden race, which we sponsored for three years. National Hunt racing was always closest to Martyn’s heart however and hence the move to pastures new and Lingfield Park! Thanks to all at the racecourse for staging the event today and we wish everyone an enjoyable day’s racing.

MOVETHECHAINS has bolted up over C&D the last twice and, while the handicapper has now had his say, it’s tough to oppose this improving 7-y-o. An uninspiring contest in which IVILNOBLE is put forward as the answer. He took a step back in the right direction from his rapidly-falling mark when runner-up at Plumpton earlier this month and can go one better in a race that may not take much winning. Go As You Please is inconsistent but he’s feared most sporting first-time blinkers, ahead of Guguss Collonges. 1-2-3: 1.IVILNOBLE (IRE) 2.GO AS YOU PLEASE (IRE) 3.GUGUSS COLLONGES (FR) KEY colours
