Horse and Jockey Welfare
Nothing matters more to us when racing than the safety and welfare of both horse and rider Central to that is the track itself and our groundstaff do everything in their power to provide an optimum racing surface.
On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.
It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. To find out more about our Equine Welfare policy, please visit our website www.doncaster-racecourse.co.uk.’

Br TIMEFORMVIEWGalileo colt who was a wide-margin winner of a 10-runner maiden at the Curragh on debut and overcame the rise in class/greenness to follow up in 10f Group 3 there. Toughed it out well to maintain his unbeaten record in Gordon Stakes at Goodwood and extra distance promises to suit. Big shout.
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

The Dante is often the key middle-distance Derby trial and the unbeaten PRIDE OF ARRAS, who was well on top at York, can become the sixth runner this century to complete the double. He has a very similar profile to the last horse to do it, Desert Crown, who was also making just his third start here, and seems sure to stay this longer trip, while 2 of his 3 siblings are Epsom winners. 2000 Guineas hero Ruling Court is the one to beat if he stays, with Delacroix the pick of Aidan O’Brien’s trio.

This is wide open but it could prove siding with BRAVE NATION to build on the promise of his Newmarket third last time out and bag a fourth C&D victory Last year’s victor Hiya Maite rates a big danger though on the back of an encouraging Thirsk fifth, while Squealer, Mon Na Slieve and Castan all enter calculations too in a cracking sprint.

Scarlet Moon rates the obvious threat in his bid for a four-time, while Novelista, Many Men and Pantile Warrior can all have a say too. It’s fair to say that TWO TRIBES has become expensive to follow, but he has resumed this season with a couple of solid efforts in strong handicaps and, with this step up to 7f a good move, he is taken to belatedly add to his 2-y-o success. If Superposition is able to reproduce something akin to his improved all-weather form now back on turf he will surely have a say in the finish. AkkadianThunder is on a workable mark and he is also shortlisted, along with Apotheosis and Billyjoh.
