On duty today we also have a dedicated and experienced team of highly-qualified Vets, Doctors and Paramedics following the action at every stage. Their key responsibility is to monitor and provide care to the competitors throughout their time at the racecourse. The locations and vehicle movements of these skilled specialists during racing are designed to provide a rapid response to any incident across the site. We also have a high-specification horse ambulance in attendance at every fixture to enable safe transport of a horse from the track to our on-site veterinary treatment facility for further treatment, or to the nearest equine referral hospital.

It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. We are fully committed to minimizing risk in our sport, to dealing professionally and efficiently with any injury, and to maintaining the highest possible quality of care for the horses and jockeys racing here today. Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race.

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability.

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

LINC Th

The original Lincolnshire Handicap was ran at Lincoln Racecourse in 1849 over 2m in August.

The race was not transferred to Doncaster until 1965, following the closure of Lincoln. The inaugural running of the William Hill Lincoln Handicap, as it is now known, took place over 1m on Town Moor in 1965 and was won by Old Tom, trained by Yorkshireman Peter Easterby. There was no running of this prestigious handicap in 2020 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Since the race has taken place at Doncaster, there has never been a dual winner of the contest.

Top trainer William Haggas is the most successful trainer in the history of the race in the modern era, winning it five times with High Low (1992), Very Wise (2007), Penitent (2010), Addeybb (2018), and most recently with Godwinson (2025). Since 2011, there has onl been one winning favourite in the

Cieren Fall 2025 winner (2018), t (20 ), ybb (20 most recently with Since there only one favourite the Fallon, en

shape of Auxerre (2019; 5/2f). 10 of the 13 runnings to have taken place since 2011 have all been won by horses at doublefigure odds. This race usually fits the profile of a young, unexposed type who is on the improve with 5 of the previous 10 renewals won by 4yo’s. Last year’s renewal was won by Godwinson (15/2), owned by Jon and Julia Aisbitt, trained by William Haggas, and ridden by Cieren Fallon.

This year’s William Hill Lincoln Handicap, at Doncaster Racecourse, has attracted 65 entries. Leading trainers, such as Karl Burke and William Haggas, are all represented, ensuring another typically high-quality and fiercely competitive handicap.

As always, the Lincoln promises to be a key early-season marker, with improving types and wellhandicapped contenders likely to dominate the finish in one of Yorkshire’s most prestigious and eagerly anticipated races.

LA BOTTE gets the vote on the back of his very promising reappearance in the trial for this at Wolverhampton. Eternal Force is another 4-y-o who likely has his best days ahead of him and is second choice for a top stable with a good Lincoln record.
