Welcome to Chepstow Racecourse for our St. Patrick’s Day Raceday promising a lively, Irish-inspired atmosphere, excellent racing, and great company. Our National Hunt racing at Chepstow continues to be extremely well supported and we thank the stakeholders of our sport for their continued dedication to running their horses with us at Chepstow. We have 4 National Hunt fixtures remaining after today, before we switch our focus to our flat fixtures from the spring onwards We’re really thrilled to have the support of newlyweds Paul and Tricia Bowden. For today’s fixture all public admission tickets have been automatically upgraded to the Premier enclosure, giving you access to our Premium bar, and viewing facilities. 2026 is an extra special year for Chepstow, with a huge celebration of our Centenary year Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating and looking back at some of the notable moments in history from the past 100 years, all leading up to our Centenary raceday on Sunday 9th August. We’ll have further details over the coming weeks and months on our Centenary plans and how you can join in to celebrate Chepstow Racecourses’ 100th birthday. Then in April, our ever-popular Grand National Party Raceday takes place on Saturday 11th April, featuring thrilling racing, live entertainment after the final race courtesy of the Kaiser-Monkey-Killers, and a vibrant party atmosphere throughout the day. You will be guided by members of the racecourse staff to speciﬁc assembly points, determined by which area you are in. Once there, please wait until the emergency services and/or racecourse staff tell you what to do”. Please see the assembly points clearly marked on the map.

Emergency Evacuation Procedure

This is an ideal opportunity for racegoers to see the horses close up and assess their attitude and ﬁtness. The horses begin to parade 15-20 minutes before their race, and this is a great chance to pick your horse.

Placing a Bet

The Racecourse Betting shop is situated in the Grandstand & Paddock enclosure. The bookmakers are located in the betting ring in front of the main Grandstand.

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are deﬁned below: HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HHHHH Selected to win the race. HIIII Can be given little or no chance. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
