Page 1

WELCOME

Welcome to Chepstow Racecourse for our ever-popular Grand National Party Raceday where thrilling racing meets an electric party atmosphere

We’re delighted to have you with us and hope you’re ready for a fantastic afternoon both on and off the track. Today promises exhilarating racing, great company, and plenty of excitement throughout the racecourse.

The Grand National will be shown LIVE on big screens across the venue at 16:00, so you won’t miss a moment of the action from Aintree. The Aintree Grand National is one of the most iconic and prestigious races in the British sporting calendar, renowned for its rich history, unique fences, and the incredible stories it produces year after year. We’re thrilled that you’re joining us here at Chepstow Racecourse to experience this truly special occasion together, sharing in the excitement as the drama unfolds at Aintree. For those looking to get even closer to the action, all on-course bookmakers will be taking bets on the race, so you can be part of every stride right up to the famous finish. All runners for the Aintree Grand National are listed in today’s racecard, which is available to purchase from the two racecard huts located around the racecourse.

We extend our sincere thanks to all owners, trainers, jockeys and connections for their continued support in bringing their horses to race here. It has been a superb National Hunt season, and we now look ahead to its finale with the much-loved Dunraven Bowl on 24th April. Beyond that, we’re excited to turn our attention to the flat season, beginning on Thursday 21st May.

A big thank you also goes to today’s sponsors, TipTop Toilets, for their valued support we hope you enjoy a wonderful day with us.

ENTERTAINMENT:

After the final race, the party continues—so don’t go anywhere!

Get ready for a high-energy live tribute performance from the Kaiser Monkey Killers, bringing iconic anthems to life in the Bonanza Boy Marquee. Throughout the day there will be a DJ to keep the atmosphere buzzing between races with a great mix of music, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

LOOKING AHEAD:

2026 is a landmark year as we celebrate our Centenary, with a fantastic season of events building towards our Centenary Raceday on Sunday 9th August—one to mark firmly in your diary.

Looking ahead to the summer, don’t miss UB40 featuring Ali Campbell performing live after racing at our Rum and Reggae Caribbean Racenight on Friday 24th July. Hospitality options are filling fast, so be sure to get in touch if you’d like to join us in one of our premium spaces.

We’re also delighted to welcome Olivia Bowen and Alex Bowen for this year’s Ladies Day. Moving to a Saturday evening, Olivia will host the Style Awards while Alex takes to the decks for a live DJ set after racing on Saturday 27th June—an event not to be missed.

Thank you for joining us today. Enjoy the racing, soak up the atmosphere, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Parade Ring

This is an ideal opportunity for racegoers to see the horses close up and assess their attitude and fitness. The horses begin to parade 15-20 minutes before their race, and this is a great chance to pick your horse.

Placing a Bet

The Racecourse Betting shop is situated in the Grandstand & Paddock enclosure. The bookmakers are located in the betting ring in front of the main Grandstand.

The Weighing Room

This is located opposite the Winning Post and all jockeys weigh out here before each race. Their weight, including their saddle, should correspond with the weight shown in today’s racecard for their particular horse in that particular race. Once the race is finished, the jockeys will weigh in and their weight must be the same as when they started. On racedays, four stewards ensure each race is run according to Jockey Club rules and regulations.

Winners Enclosure

Unauthorised Bookmaking

It is a condition of entry to this Racecourse that only individuals in possession of a valid betting badge and occupying an authorised pitch are entitled to lay bets on the course of their business. Any individual found contravening these conditions will be evicted.

You will be guided by members of the racecourse staff to specific assembly points, determined by which area you are in. Once there, please wait until the emergency services and/or racecourse staff tell you what to do”.

Please see the assembly points clearly marked on the map.

After each race, the first four placed horses are led into the Winners Enclosure where they are unsaddled and the jockeys take the saddle and weigh in. There are presentations by race sponsors to the connections of the winning on the winner’s podium.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions

A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
