Market & harvest reports
The autumn and winter harvest has been successfully concluded across our European growing regions. In Northern Europe, autumn and winter vegetables (cauliflower, beans, spinach, carrots, Brussels sprouts) delivered solid, consistent results in yield and quality. Harvesting conditions were also quite good across the board. This makes the harvest more pleasant for farmers and is much better for soil fertility. Most winter vegetables were harvested successfully, ensuring continuity of supply.
Autumn in Southern Europe was warm and wet, especially in Portugal. These abnormal conditions had consequences, including Alternaria, a disease affecting broccoli. As these effects were anticipated and taken into account in overall production planning, volumes remained well balanced.
Welcoming Sebastiaan
edition: January 2026
Herb production performed well overall, with good availability throughout the season. Certain varieties such as thyme, dill and rosemary required special attention due to weather, but careful planning and field management ensured continuity of supply.
Overall, the autumn and winter harvest was completed in line with expectations.
Hello, I’m Sebastiaan. I recently joined Ardo as Chief Commercial Officer and I’m excited to work with you. I have extensive experience in the food and beverage world, having spent many years in international commercial and leadership roles across frozen foods, beverages and food ingredients. These experiences have shaped how I build partnerships and support customers in their growth. I am fully committed to driving value for our customers. I look forward to collaborating and exploring new opportunities together.
“Commitment, passion, ownership and authenticity form the foundations of everything we do”
After my first year as Ardo’s CEO, I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their trust in us. During the past year, I visited many Ardo sites in Europe and Canada. Everywhere, I met teams with great passion for their work. I experienced their commitment in the fields, at our factories and throughout the chain, from field to plate. That shared drive is what makes Ardo unique and reinforces our ambition to further support you, our customers, year after year with solutions that create real added value and make a difference in your daily operations.
Ardo and the food industry are continuing to develop at a rapid pace. Changing market dynamics, new technologies and the impact of climate change call for a different mindset and approach. That means continuous innovation, not only in how we grow and produce our products, but also in our development of solutions together with customers and partners. Closely monitoring market trends allows us to translate these insights into tasty, on-trend product innovations. Our ready-to-eat cold salads, range of organic fruits and improved sweet potato fries are all great examples of this approach.
The future demands we make a clear choice: to adapt to all these changes, or to lead. At Ardo, we choose to lead. Our ambition for the next ten years is clear: we want to further strengthen our position as a leader in fresh frozen vegetables and herbs, while also establishing a strong position in fruit.
Achieving these goals will require both discipline and collaboration across all our sites and close cooperation with our partners and customers. At the same time, we remain true to the values that have guided our family business for decades:
commitment, passion, ownership and authenticity form the foundations of everything we do and inform our choices for the future.
We therefore look to the future with confidence and trust in the experience we have built so far. While the challenges are real, we also believe in the strength of our people, the depth of our agronomic expertise and the solidity of our operations.
When it comes to fresh frozen vegetables, herbs and fruit, Ardo is your reliable partner. A partner that not only adapts, but is also working to shape the future together with our customers and partners.
On behalf of everyone at Ardo, I would like to thank you for your trust. We are looking forward to the new season and our continued collaboration.
Sabine Sagaert, CEO Ardo
Supporting our customers each and every day
At Ardo, our teams collaborate closely every day with just one goal: providing our customers with the clear, reliable and market-oriented support they need. Behind every product, order and question lies a strong collaboration, with everyone’s individual expertise combining to create a smooth and consistent customer experience.
Products shaped by market insights and trends
Nienke Vercruysse, New Product Development
Our NPD department works on the creation of new and improved products that reflect what is happening in the market. Together with Marketing and Category Management, we explore trends, share market insights and listen to our customers. We then translate these insights into tasty, on-trend products that will be sure to find their way into every kitchen.
We guide new products from idea to launch. Through clear packaging, accurate cooking instructions and a consistent approach, we make it easy for customers to introduce new products. We help our customers to stay responsive to market trends and keep their product range fresh and relevant.
Clear alignment and reliable information
Tine Vercruysse, Quality
To be able to provide our customers with the best support, good collaboration between Quality, Sales and Customer Service is key. By clearly defining roles and responsibilities across these teams, we ensure smoother internal cooperation and more consistent communication towards our customers. Thanks to this close alignment we can respond faster, with clarity and confidence.
To further enhance our customer experience, we have implemented a dedicated customer complaints tool so input is captured accurately and follow-up is faster and more structured. At the same time, we are investing in consistent, centralised specification management to provide our customers with clear and reliable product information. This helps ensure that the information is accurate and aligned across our organisation.
Together, these improvements allow us to work efficiently, respond faster and build strong, lasting partnerships with our customers.
Efficient order support and daily collaboration
Annelies Colpaert, Customer Service
Our customer service teams guide customers throughout the ordering process, from answering product and availability questions to entering and following up on orders. Order entry is a daily activity that takes up a considerable part of the teams’ time and often involves repetitive manual work. To address this, we are introducing an AI-supported tool that automatically reads incoming orders and processes them correctly in our systems. Even during the initial implementation, we are already seeing clear improvements in speed and efficiency.
By reducing our teams’ administrative workload, they have more time to work proactively with customers, align closely with sales and respond faster to customer needs. The tool is easy to use and means our team can focus more on valueadded, customer-focused collaboration.

Building water resilience through nature-based solutions
Water is one of the most critical resources in agriculture and also one of the most vulnerable to climate change. Increasing periods of drought followed by heavy rainfall are making water availability less predictable and directly affecting crop cycles and yields. This makes sustainable water management a key priority for Ardo, aligning perfectly with our sustainability strategy for 2035.
One great example of how nature and business can reinforce each other is the Haut Geer Nature Reserve project developed in collaboration with Natagora, a Belgian nature conservation organisation. The site originated as an industrial water basin and is now jointly managed to assure farmers of sustainable irrigation while also improving biodiversity and long-term water resilience.
Today, the site is used to store up to 500,000 cubic metres of water and supplies water for irrigation to ten local farmers across 1,200 hectares. Using a network of pipes powered by renewable energy allows the water to be reused efficiently instead of being discharged into rivers.
The area has become a thriving wetland, home to more than 200 bird species and a wide range of plants, insects and mammals. This careful balance between agricultural use and nature protection demonstrates how water management can deliver value beyond production alone.
The project shows how circular thinking and strong partnerships can turn climate challenges into shared value. By working with both farmers and nature organisations, Ardo is building a scalable model for water resilience that benefits businesses, people and nature alike.
