REVITALISING REWARDING

By 2050, the population of metropolitan areas is predicted to surge from 3.4 billion to 6.3 billion. Although often viewed as an economic phenomenon, urbanisation too, signifies an ecological revolution for mankind. Understanding the melodramatic changes in our relationship with nature, space and materials, is key to sustainable progress.

Sydney Metro West (Construction 2020)

Metro

The seven proposed metro stations for Sydney

have been confirmed at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays. Construction started in 2020, Sydney Metro West will make it faster and easier to get to Parramatta from both the east and west. This frees up capacity on the existing suburban rail to the west, increasing the reliability of services to and from Greater Western Sydney areas like Blacktown, Penrith and the Blue Mountains. Most metro stations are well connected with train stations, making it convenient for commuters to change services. The proposal for Sydney Metro Greater West[2] has been approved, and the construction, too, started in 2020, making it easier to commute between Western Sydney to The Bays Precinct through Metro. Having a Western Sydney Internation Airport station, it bounds to bring more tourism into Sydney CBD, or even, The Bays Precinct.

The nearest train station from The Bays Precinct is the one located in Sydney CBD – Central/Town Hall station.

Phytoremediation will incorporate a palette of annual, fast growing plants. The plant species were selected from phytoremediation research and were proven to remove toxins. Plant selection was further influenced by matching appropriate species with the known toxins found on site, as well as included plants which have notable bloom and foliage qualities.

PHYTOREMEdIATION PLANTINg STRATEgIES

Trees, shrubs and groundcovers will be planted in groups. They will be grouped according to their maturity time and stages. This will allow events for sowing and harvesting.

Certain insects, such as grasshopper, feed on toxic plants in order to protect themselves from predators.

Phytoremediated plants will be use as biochar in place into the gasifier in White Bay Power Station to generate renewable energy.
