Come to Subiaco and ilititness to Jesus Christ T
he year of Jubilee is building to its climax. This will occur on 25th December, the 2000th anniversary of Christ's birth. All this year Christians have remembered the simple and humble coming of Christ on earth long ago in the stable of Bethlehem. an event that has had a profound and irreversible impact on the whole world. The Incarnation has changed everything. All this year we have marvelled at the extent of God's love in sending us his only Son to be our Saviour.
tices wherever we found them. We have gone on pilgrimages to remind ourselves that we are on a journey to the Father's house, Like the Prodigal Son. We have taken the tirne to pray, to reflect, to restore our spiritual energies - in other words, to take a 'Sabbatical*. Having passed through the Holy Door, we prayerfully followed the call of jubilee in our Parishes and in our communities. Now we are called to come together as a great Catholic family to praise Christ the King with one voice on Sunday 26th November.

Well-known Channel Ten newsreader Greg Pearce will be a presenter for the celebration together with Sarah McNeill, the scriptwriter for the evening's events. Mr Pearce will complete a `trifecta' of commercial television involvement in the celebrations: Channels Seven and Nine are also providing images and sub-text for the giant television screen at the oval. If we can fill the stadium for football. we can surely fill it for Christ the King. There are not many occasions when the whole Church comes together. For most of us. our Parish is where we worship God and find our friends in the Faith. Now, in this Jubilee year, we can bring all the parishes together, all the schools together, all the Religious Communities together in an act of solidarity with Christ our King. Perhaps, when we recognise how many spiritual brothers and sisters we have, of all ages, we will realise that we can have a profound effect on our society.
We can be witnesses to the supremacy of God in the way we live, we can remind the world of the duty to pray and to worship God, we can draw people away from society's dangerous attempts to live without God.

Seeing so many gathered together will give us confidence that the anti-religious forces that are so vocal at present cannot and will not suppress the Christian beliefs nor the Christian voice.
