Feast of Easter shines with brilliance . . . . Since Jesus rose from the dead his followers have celebrated that extraordinary event with joy for two thousand years. . . . One could hardly imagine the impact that Jesus' rising from the dead had on his Apostles and his followers. . . . They had witnessed with alarm how his enemies were closing in on him. . . . Even though Jesus had predicted that he would rise again, they were devastated when he breathed his last on the cross . . Imagine the amazement and thrill that would have surged through his followers when the word spread that he had risen . . . . What does Easter mean to us? It means much more than just remembering a great miracle . . For us the rising of Jesus from the dead is a glorious sign of hope . . . . We can know now with certainty that death has been overcome and that the power of sin has been broken . . . . We know that eternal life has been offered to us, and we live in the breathtaking knowledge that the Risen Lord is with us now, encouraging us to trust in him implicitly, especially when weighed down by the cares of life . . . . Without the resurrection, the destructive power of sin would triumph. . . . Now that Jesus has broken that power, we look forward with confidence that the world can be better, that goodness can flourish and that the culture of life can overcome the culture of death . . . . Lent was a time of personal penance, a reflection and conversion. . . . At Easter we look confidently at the future, knowing that the Risen Lord will go with us every step of the way . . . .
