Pictured at left is the scene in Saint Mary's Cathedral last Sunday when 102 men waited to be instituted acolytes by Archbishop Goody. The cathedral was packed with relatives, friends and parishioners at the afternoon Mass during which the ceremony took place. Candidates approached the altar in groups of eight and placed their hands on the chalice and paten as the Archbishop instituted them as

ministers at the altar.

To prepare for the institution, candidates attended three training nights at Trinity College followed by a weekend retreat at Iona Presentation College. Ten parishes were presenting candidates for the first time at last Sunday's ceremony; there are now 75 parishes (CONTINUED P. 2)
