me intercession of their deceased member. "The Record" extends its sympathy also to Sister's mother, Mrs. Guilfoyle, to her sister, Mrs. J. McKenna. and to her aunt, Mother M. Stanislaus, of St. Anne's. and to all her relatives. May the gentle and noble soul of Sister Mary Catherine of Christ rest in peace!

On Wednesday, February 15, Sister Mary Catherine of Christ, of the Carmelite Monastery, Nedlands, originally Pauline Gwynneth Guilfoyle, elder daughter of Mrs. G. Guilfoyle. of Melvista Avenue, Nedlands, and the late Dr. Frank Guilfoyle, passed peacefully away at St. John's, Subiaco. Sister Catherine was the

second West Australian girl to join the Carmelite Sisters from their foundation in this State nearly 26 years ago. She was truly an inspiration to her community, being endowed by God with rare talents, a bright disposition and a wonderful sense of humour. She was spared to enjoy only ten years of a holy and virtuous life and filled for a term the responsible office of Sub-Prioress. Like the Little Flower of Lisieux. she made gigantic steps along the path of spiritual perfection for she trod the path of "Spiritual Infancy, the secret of the sanctity of St. Therese. Sister could,- find consolation, joy andlltileasure in even the simplest things-one ,could even say that her life-long indeed her *lotto, *lotto, was. "Isn't that lovely!" She used it even on her deathbed and in the most acute pain was heard to exclaim: "How good God has always been to me!" For some time Sister's health had been causing anxiety, but she herself never complained. In spite of unremitting medical attention and skilful nursing on the part of the Sisters of St. John of God Hospital, it was impossible to save her young life. God obviously wanted her generous soul and she died a beautiful and edifying death. His Grace the Archbishop presided at the Solemn Re-

Children admitted half price to 5/ area only. Our latest advice on preparations for the Play include these notes on the central figure of the Passion the portrayal of Christ. Perth's best -kept 1961 secret looks like remaining just THAT a real mystery. What is the name of the man who plays Christ in the Iona Passion play? He has competently filled the role through three successive years since 1958, when Father Thomas Shortall first organised and produced the play. His name and identity are known to at least 200 people more than 170 of these are fellow actors and actresses. YET this information has never leaked out. Two things known about him are: He is a high executive with a Brisbane firm, and before accepting the role of Christ, had never acted on the stage. He agreed to take the part only on the condition that he remain anonymous. Father Shortall said that everyone connected with the play had remained loyal to the executive's wish. The Perth performance of the Passion slay is a MUST for every Catholic family within 100 miles of Perth.
