Passion
Play For Perth In March, 1961, Perth will have a chance to witness a Passion Play which in its last performance was widely ac-
claimed. A chartered plane will bring the cast and their own "props" front Adelaide which will be the second capital city to see the play on its tour. Originating in Brisbane the play was presented by Rev. T. Shortall, O.M.I. This year an ambitious programme has been arranged to present the Passion Play in every capital city. In Melbourne on March 15, 16, the play will be presented in the Myer Music Bowl. Adelaide will see it on March 17 on the Adelaide Oval. Perth's venue will be the Perth Oval on March 20; Sydney at the White City tennis courts on March 23, 24, with the
cast returning to their home city for presentation on March 31 (Good Friday). Featured on this page is a scene from one of the rehearsals of the Passion Play. For the crowd scenes in the play, twelve to fifteen
families will be used. These will be chosen from each State as the play is presented. Further releases of news and photographs of the play will be featured in the Press as the committee is formed.
English Martyrs' Cause To Be Studied Vatican City: The Holy See will soon decide on a petition to start proceedings for the canonisation of 40 beatified martyrs of the Protestant Reformation in England and Wales.
Holy
The petition was submitted last May by the. Bishops of England and Wales. The Sacred Congregation of Rites, which handles all causes of canonisation, is preparing a summary of all past action in the cause. It is expected to be ready by the end of January. A cardinal -promoter of the cause, yet to be named, will present the question of resuming the cause to an assembly of the cardinals who make up the Congregation of Rites. A vote will be taken, and if it is favourable the cause will be resumed. The 40 martyrs are among 199 beatified by Pope Leo XIII and Pope Pius XI. Two of that total have already been canonised, St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More. They are the only declared saints of the English Reformation. The Sacred Congregation
