Vatican City: The consecration of 14 missionary bishops by His Holiness Pope John XXIII has been recorded on the annual medal issued to commemorate the Pope's pontificate. The first copy of the pontificate of Pope John was designed by Aurelio Mistruzzi, the second -year designer of medals. On one face is depicted a profile bust of Pope John and on the oher the Pope is shown seated in St. Peter's surrounded by the newly consecrated bishops. Each year a medal is cast to commemorate the reign of a pope and a special incident in that year is commemorated on the obverse of the medal. This year's medal, copies of which in gold, silver and copper will be distributed to visitors at the Vatican, was presented to the Pope by His Eminence Nicola Cardinal Canali, head of the Pontifical Commission for the Administration of the Goods of the Holy See.

A packed Cathedral one! a large attendance at the graveside bore testimony to the high regard held by all members of the community for the late Dr. Daniel Quinlan. Hyderabad, Pakistan: Two Franciscan priests have completed a list of Urdu words for terms used in the Catholic religion. It is designed for preachers. Many doctrinal and devotional terms have no correct equivalent in Urdu, which along with Bengali and English is an official language of Pakistan. Some of those now used in Urdu have undesirable connotations. Father Liberius, O.F.M., compiled the new vocabulary and Father Tobias Bastiansen, O.F.M, edited it. Their joint work took 10 years and was carried out in their spare time.
