Miss M. McNabb .
His Grace the Archbishop, attended by the Rt. Rev. Monsignori Kennedy, V.G., and Langmead, with the clergy in procession from the Oblate House, Fremantle, to the church.
On Sunday lost His Grace the Archbishop
blessed the new Sanctuary at St. Patrick's
Church, Fremantle.
The work had been completed after a long break of 60 years. Walking through a guard of honour of the Irish Apparition, whose schools had contributed so many National Forrestors and members of the Hibernian vocations to the sanctuary and the cloister. Society on one side and children from St. Joseph's He also congratulated the contractor, Mr. S. Costello, Girls' School, Parry -street, on the other, the procession and the tradesmen associated with him. of clergy went from the presbytery, through the grounds
to the church. The sanctuary was blessed and High Mass was celebrated, at which His Grace presided. The celebrant of the Mass was the V. Rev. J. Sullivan, O.M.I., Deacon Rev. M. Byrne, Sub -Deacon Rev. Siebert O.M.I., and the Master of Ceremonies was Rev. J. Dunlea, O.M.I. His Grace was assisted at the throne by the Rt. Rev. Monsignori E. Kennedy, V.G., and A. Langmead, P.P. The assistant priest was the Rt. Rev. Monsignor E. Sullivan, P.P. The occasional sermon was preached by Rev, T. Haugh, O.M.I. At the conclusion of Mass, His Grace ce.agratulated all-Priests, Brothers, Sisters and people-on the completion of the church. For the past 60 years-since, though incomplete, it was dedicated-they had hoped and prayed for the day when it would be completed. Their prayer was answered, their hope realised. It was a majestic, spacious, dignified and devotional building-worthy of - the holy purpose for which it was erected and worthy of the City of Fremantle. He congratulated particularly the Oblate Fathers, and thanked them for their excellent administration of the Parish of Fremantle. It was impossible, His Grace continued, duly to appraise the work of the Oblates because, like all apostolic work springing from a pure intention and supernatural motive, it was known to God alone. But if the people of Fremantle could rightly glory in its superb church, the credit was largely due to the initiative, interest, energy and vision of the pioneer Fathers down to the present Parish Priest, whose courage and resourcefulness in completing the building were worthy of the highest commendation. As an example of their selflessness, His Grace mentioned that in 1944 the people of Fremantle presented a personal testimonial to the Oblates to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their arrival in Western Australia. The Fathers accepted the gift only on condition that it would be utilised to acquire marble altar -rails for the church when it was being completed. The Archbishop spoke feelingly of the work of the Christian Brothers and Sisters of St. Joseph of the

Celebration of the jubilee inaugurated by the offering of a Sung Mass of Thanksgiving by the jubilarian at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi at Maida Vale, where he is parish priest. His Grace the Archbishop, attended by the Rev. P. Quinn, was present in the sanctuary.- The Rt. Rev. Mgr. E. Sullivan preached the occasional sermon. Pupils of St, Brigid's College, Lesmurdie, sang the music of the Mass-the late Dom Moreno's Missa Nona. Loudspeakers installed in the church broadcast the Mass to those who were unable to find places in the small church. A large crowd attended the Mass and the high tea which was served afterwards in the grounds and on the verandahs. The function, organised by members of the Sacred Heart was
Sodality, was notable for its friendly informality and for superlative provisioning, at which the Children. of Mary assisted. Mr. J. F. Hardwick welcomed the parishioners and called on the jubiliarian lu recite grace. Father Brunetti was born at Nevi, Italy, in 1912 and received his secondary education there. He studied for the priesthood in Rome, where he was ordained on April 20, 1935. After some years in America, he came to this State in 1951 and after some years of pastoral work with the Servite Fathers at Tuart Hill and Wanneroo was appointed first parish priest of Maida Vale. Among the visitors who attended the function from all over the metropolitan area was Mr. S. Callea, Consul for Italy.
