Father P. J.
Nolan, O.S.M. Adjoining the Church a Priory is being built to accommodate, in the first instance, a community of four
priests and a brother. This is so designed to permit of extension as the community grows. Standing in spacious ground with a frontage on Wellington Road, the Church and Monastery will form an impressive group of buildings in a rapidly growing district, and will be a distinctive contribution to church architecture in this State. The Order of Discalced Carmelites was established by Saints Teresa of Jesus and John of the Cross in the second half of the sixteenth century when they restored the practice of the Primitive Rule of Carmel The Order has made a large contribution to the teaching of the Church on the Spiritual life and has been blessed with several saints, of whom the most widely known, un-
doubtedly, is St. Therese of the Infant Jesus. Right from the beginning devotion to the Infant Jesus has been a highly treasured part of the heritage of Discalced Carmelites. The Fathers earnestly beg the help of all lovers of the Infant Jesus to make of this Church a fitting shrine of the devotion. Help is urgently needed for the furnishing of the Church and for a chapel in honour of the Infant Jesus of Prague. In preparation for the feast of the Annunciation, when "the Word was made flesh," a novena of Masses will be offered in honour of the Infant Jesus of Prague for subscribers.
