prelate to receive a knighthood. The other is Sir Michael Gonzl, Archbishop of Malta, who visited Australia a few years ago.

Archbishop Duhig was horn at Broadford, Limerick, Ireland, in 1871 and emigrated with his family to Australia in 1888. His early studies were made with the Christian Brothers at Gregory -ter. He read his priestly couse in Rome where he was ordained in 1896. After only eight years in the priesthood as a curate, Fr. Duhig was appointed Bishop of Rockhampton in 1905. He was consecrated on Dec. 10 of that year to rule over a diocese of 360,000 square miles. In 1912 he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Brisbane with the right of succession to Archbishop Dunn, then in failing health. As Coadjutor he initiated the moves that led to the creation of the new diocese of Toowoomba and Townsville. Five years later, in 1917, Dr. Duhig succeeded to the See of Brisbane. of gratitude I write this token of appreciaAlways noted as an oraGrace, the Most Rev. J.
