for the four victims of the Mandurah drowning tragedy the Rev. Fr. Joseph John O'Hara (29), Mother Patricia Lynch (50), Mother Finbarr Torrent (37), and Sister Joachim Delahunty (26). The late Fr. O'Hara was assistant priest in the parish of Mosman Park. Mother Patricia was superior of "Iona," Presentation convent, Mosman Park; Mother Finbarr was mistress of novices there and Sister Joachim was only recently professed as a Presentation nun. The tragedy occurred in Peel Inlet on Wednesday, January 28, when a fibre -glass dinghy in which Fr. O'Hara and five Presentation nuns were travelling from Yunderup to Mandurah capsized. Two of the nuns-Sister Aquinas McMahon and Sister Augustine Goodchild-were rescued after the gruelling ordeal of clinging to the upturned boat for
hours. Requiem Mass was offered by His Lordship the Auxiliary Bishop, the Most Rev. J. J. Rafferty. The Rev. M. Casey (Nedlands) was deacon and the Rev. J. O'Shea (East Fremantle) was sub-deacon. The R t. Rev. Mgr. E. Kennedy, V.G., acted as assistant priest, while the ceremonies were directed by the Rev. F. Walsh. 17
All Suffragan Sees Represented His Grace the Archbishop presided at the throne, assisted by the Rt. Rev. Mgr. A. T. Langmead and the Rt. Rev. Mgr. F. Collins. Present in the sanctuary was the Most Rev. 0. Raible, S.C.A. (retired Vicar Apostolic of Kimberley). The music of the Requiem was chanted by a priests' choir of more than 120 clergy representing the Archdiocese, each of the suffragan Sees and the religious orders. Delegates from the communities of Brothers and nuns were present. At the conclusion of Mass Bishop Rafferty gave the Absolution and the four caskets were borne out to the waiting hearses through the dense, reverent congregation. It was a scene of great poignancy as the cortege circled Victoria -square en route for the Karrakatta cemetery. The Archbishop and Bishops Rafferty and Raible attended the last prayers at the graveside. At the Sisters' graves Monsignor Kennedy recited the late Sisters' graves Monsignor Kennedy recited the last late Fr. O'Hara's.
