After a search which has lasted for 20 years under the present editorship of this paper a copy of "The Record," printed on white satin nearly 70 years ago, has accidentally come into our posses-

study a little?" They responded with a resounding "No!" Then one little voice piped up, "Don't you know it's vacation time, Your Holiness?"

sion.

The issue of January 27, 1887, was presumably impressed in this way, together with a purple satin border, to commemorate the episcopal consecration by Cardinal Moran of Bishop Gibney. It is printed in red init, runs to 12 pages and is still in a fine state of preservation except for a little mildew on the final page. The satin issue was found among the effects of Bishop William Bernard Kelly, first occupant of the See of Geraldton after its canonical erection in 1898. Bishop Kelly died at St. John of G-Sd Hospital, Subiaco, on Dec. 26, 1921. The donor of this interesting historical find has given it into our keeping, but wishes to remain anonymous. Bishop Kelly was editor of "The Record" at the time of Bishop Gibney's consecration. It is interesting to note that no fewer than three editors of this paper became Bishops. The others were Bishop Gibney and Archbishop John O'Reily of Adelaide.
