The successful students this year were Anthony Byrne and Gerald Hodgkin son of Christian Brothers' High School, Highgate, and Peter Steele of Christian Brothers College, Perth. The scholarships, which are awarded annually, are tenable for the two years previous to the Leaving Certificate and are valued at £40 per annum. They are the gift of Sir Thomas Coombe, a former resident of this State, and can be used at any nonState secondary school.
